So in build two people were kevetching about forge snipers.
Now we cant kill tanks with them.
Little heavy handed on the nerf bat.
I said in an earlier post I thought forge gun sniping took skill because the forge gun cant zoom or do aim down the site. Well apparently that wasn't enough. So the idea is pretty simple, you return the forge gun to its original range. However when you charge up and right before you let the shot go, there is a mirage that builds up in front of your vision. It makes things look wavy like a heat mirage and basically makes things go out of focus. The vision interference will be enough to obscure small targets like infantry at long range but not vehicles and instillations.
I dont have a programing background so I have no Idea how difficult something along these lines would be to implement, but I do feel its a better course of action then the current one which makes forge guns ineffective against tanks and forces it into an anti infantry role which is what we were trying to prevent in the first place. |

Forge snipers, i'm still and always will be impressed by that..
but Forge guns are anti infantry right now, it's saddening. |

It wasnt as much forge sniping as forge bombardment, some few could snipe with them though.
Rather than have a mirrage thing that could easly be compensated for with a bit of guess work why not just bump up the range some and bump down the accaurcy some(if the accaurcy not already been altered from last build I havent checked them out this build yet). CCP is very heavy handed with nerfs first the HMG wrre OP but then CCP nerfed them and two builds later they are still under powered. The forge were being used to bombard and snipe infantry because they were a OHK weapon that could also scare off tanks, I did support the nerfing but come on CCP lower things in margins and dont complete nerf it went from 1200 meters to less than 200 im pretty sure bumping down accaurcy a small amount and dropping range to 600 to 800, would have be a more reasonable test nerf. CCP need to understand that whena community calls for a nerf bump it down a by a ser margin until the community stop complaining and and the gun is still functional

I agree that the forge gun has been so crippled that its totally useless as an Anti-Vehicle weapon. This weapon is a man-portable railgun system, it fires solid rounds at over 7000m/s or 4.3 miles a second or 15000 mph (according to the description)which is more than 2.5 times greater than a sniper rifle speed. Why has it been so reduced as an AV weapon? What are the physics laws being used for this Kinetic Kill weapon? It should be able to fire from one side of any map to the other. and put the slugs through the frount armor and out the back. |

forge guns are horrible vs infantry, the breach model is certainly a stupid idea if you're gonna go for infantry with it....iirc 6 sec charge time, +immobilised while holding said charge=dead
The assault offers a slight damage buff over the standard, but you have to maintain aim because the assault cannot store a charge, its charging time is 2.5secs iirc
basic forge gun charge time is 4.5 secs.
It will be nice when they get a bit back that has been taken away, because they are next to useless against a well fit tank, but having said that... after finding a "weak point" on one tank... I'm happily trying to ascertain whether all tanks share weak point locations.
It would seem that hitting a weak point gives something like 2x to 4x damage multiplier..... /just-saying :D
