Probably because it's in the Vehicle Request menu, and you can't pull up that menu when you're already in a vehicle. It would be nice if they adjusted it to make Precision Strikes an exception. |

CCP should put the OS command on the map screen like all the other positional commands... |

It does make sense that it is in the vehicle request menu, as those are just assets you call down from the war barge. The orbital strike is another thing you call down from the war barge. But it is frustrating to have too get out of the vehicle you're in to call one down. Doesn't make sense unless it is seen as texting and driving and CCP just doesn't want our characters doing something that dangerous. Even then if squad commander is passenger they should be able to call the strike. |

You know I have been thinking about this aspect about calling in Orbital strikes from the Vehicle I see one problem problem with that one is that when you call in an orbital strike if you are in the vehicle. you are pretty much Protected and unable to be touched. I have seen in a couple of runs I was doing HAV taking hits from a number of people and not going down. Yes I know they are armored to the hilt. Yet where is it that a Squad leader is any different than any of us. Call in a strike take a chance of getting blasted |

Yeah. Because it makes sense that the super soldiers of the future are only allowed to twiddle their thumbs when they go on car trips.
The passenger seat of the LAV is perfect for commanders to queue orders and targets for their squads, they should be able to call orbitals too. In fact it should be easier as LAV's would have more reliable uplinks.
There should even be command LAV's that give commanders squad bonuses.

then if you put a LAV as a Command vehicle then it should be just like EVE have it to where it is a specialized vehicle not one you can get right off the bat one that take a lot of training to run and to outfit. and the training for calling it in from a LAV should take a lot of training as well. Not one you can just do any time one that should be done later in the training.
Command ship piloting takes Months of training to be able to do in Eve witch is a Veteran pilot, and the ship alone costs a small fortune in isk...
So if that is done why not make it cost the same with the vehicle and the training. |

PROTECTED?
You sit any tank just anywhere to whip out your space phone, and it's as good as dead... and also, even if we could do the 'from map' thing, vehicles don't mesh well with pulling out the map, for reasons that elude me.
Remember, tanks are alot softer than you'd think, its just that one of their bars goes down faster than the other, and people tend to shoot the ones where it's the second bar (seriously, minute the shield is gone, Saggy is naught but an expensive paperweight). |

Its because they fall through the map when you open menus. These vehicles have computers and screens and uplinks, it should be EASIER to call in strikes and things in a vehicle, not harder.
