It's basically "salvage" left over lying around if you will at the end of the battle that you "happen" to pick up and put in your inventory. |

In EVE salvage is a way of mining wrecks for cash and or components that can be used to make items.
In Dust salvage is what you'd recover from a battle field IE. Guns, Gear, Mods.
At this time you can't sell the gear but I'd imagine here soon you'll be able to sell the gear you collect for ISK should you not want or are able to use the items found. |

Think of it as loot from killing a monster or whatever in other mmo's. |

tanks, dropships, etc... Is basically the equivalent of the more popular "loot", as pointed out before = free stuff!!! |

What they should do in my humble opinion is figure out a way to let us scavenge for materials ourselves. It'd be nice to be able to somehow determine what kind of salvage you get by choosing what kind of rubble or body you scavenge from. Although scavenging during a battle would be pretty dangerous. |

The salvage system is actually kind of funny. I've found guns that you can't buy in the market, gotten proto-tier tanks, dropships, and LAVs in matches where I didn't see any of these the whole time; much less fought them. (edit: much less gotten past their shields and not died over 10 times)
So is salvage like victory spoils of swag you found on the map? Like, here's a warehouse full of exclusive stuff, since you won/played have some! A specialized reward for playing in combat? |

I actually like the free stuff, even if I can't currently sell it or even use it. My officer assault rifles are just cool to have. |

Love the awesome rare guns but it would make more sense if it was random loot from actual depolyed equipment |

I would like to be able to take apart the junk I find laying around the battlezone, research it (or give it to an EVE mate who can research it for me) and either make it into new toys, or reverse engineer it so that myself or my EVE manufacturing toon and can make more of them to sell or supply my corp with. |

Really the salvage is obviously very... beta XD but the end result is that we should actually bet getting salvage of stuff from the battle which we can then sell, i don' t know how it will be split up but we already have a similar system in EVE, maybe people who sacrifice the abilities could equip salvage tackles. Who knows but end results, free stuff is good why question it. |

Like mounting a module that was like an expert system for identifying useful salvage - thus increaing the amount of salvage they get? Or a tool that lets you zap a fallen corpse or vehicle wreck before they de-rez and loot them?
dunno bout it, but sounds like an interesting concept. |

In EVE you shoot ship corpses and it gives you parts of the ship so in dust who knows but hey I can see it. |

I shoot ship corpses with regularity, actually. I need to reactive my relatively young account (a little over a year) but my Catalyst usually carries six guns and two salvagers for missions. I like to clean up after myself even if its not as efficient as using a Cat with eight salvagers or a salvager/tractor mix. |

Cool! But WHAT decides the salvage we get?? I.e. I have obtained as salvage nine Sagaris, fourteen Suryas and ten Officer Black Ops HAVs Kubera_O.(in the description it says marauder meta level 15).
Whats the _O stand for and how?? do I get MORE!! of those tasty special HAV tanks?? |

I'm fure a faction mod would have _F at the end too. probably just a small bug for now, and likely will be replaced with something similar to the tag like for T2, faction, deadspace, COSMOS and officer mods in EVE.
that is just a guess though. |
