What do we know about this? Will we be able to make some use of the planets we conquer or are we merely around for the capsuleers' pleasure?
I want to be able to build some industries on the planet we hold to create some equipment for my corpmates. I'd like to be able to build some mines too and even spaceports to buy minerals from the capsuleers. Maybe even research stations and such. The more complicated they make it the more I'll enjoy it! Hell, make me manage population transfers, farming, extreme weather, orbital defense cannons, I want it all!

Donno why exactly but i think we should be able to not only set up mines/manufacturing plants and the like but big fort like military instalations around that to protect them, artillary bases to have access to fire support during fights on the planet which could be disabled by attacker pre match, mabye even big mock battlefield for Corp/Squad training in house, mabye set up rail based on the moons for either anti small ship cruiser and smaller in orbit mabye even able to hit tanks on the ground at a push,
It would be damn cool if we could set up bases on planets to be able to outfit your corp/Squad another thing that might be present on planets such as in eve systems have places where pirates hide maybe if a planet is taken over then it would be considerably easyier to detect or auto detects if there are pirate bases on a planet which advanced teck such aspirate or navy blue print copyies could be stolle....... or i mean liberated |

Keep in mind that we're mercenaries. We take a planet for an Eve corporation, get paid, then look for our next check.
Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see some kind of Dust-side industry, but it doesn't seem to fit our nature. |

I think they should make us able to defend a map/region much like how an EVE player can defend a POS. if you pour enough money into a base, it should be nearly impenetrable unless the attackers spend humdreds of millions/billions on top-of-the-line gear/vehicles.
It would make it feasible to set a "home base" that seldom gets attacked. but it all depends on how CCP wants to handle it. Do they want it to always be a "balanced field", or will they make it possible for defenders to drop a giant wall of guns in front of their resources? I guess only time will tell. |

I think a dust corp should be able to bring in its own support elements to planets their task to take that would provide off map artilery support. And in null sec we should be able to establish bases on any planet we can get the land for a base could be for garrisons(more clones in all near by battles) merc own anti eve bases, airfields(that could call in drone airstikes for ground force when bombardment not avilable) and other bases we coupd own planet side to give us an advantage for fighting on our turf. Our bases could be objective/game modes if overall planet warfare becomes like a RTS for the intire planet with districts, chokepoints and distance taking up time.

I like the idea, and I think that even if we don't get it right when the game gets released, I'm sure over time it will show up that industry has a place in Dust....
Though I gotta say that I think it would be better implemented in the event that mercenary companies start forming. Companies have the strength to take regions and setting up these sorts of sites. I CAN see the smaller economy developing between players individually as one guy gets rid of the stash of unused ARs for a shiny new rocket launcher.
I just don't know how to really feel, it's kinda intimidating to think that an economy is in control of the prices of the tools I'm using to play the game, but I guess I should take comfort from the fact that I usually wind up liking the less used stuff because no one learns how to use it or fight against it :-P
I hope this comes to pass, it would be nice to move 'used' equipment and make a little extra cash... |

CCP has said we will not be dependant on EVE, interconnected yes, and we will be able to hold sovereignty over planets.
So our own manufacturing has to be part of this. If we can't manufacture then the flow of ISK will only be in one direction, us buying from EVE.
So I wouldn't be too concerned, this will be on the way. |

From another thread...
Nova Knife wrote: There will be trade in dust, and like mentioned above, some measure of industry. It won't be as extensive as eve though. Districts will produce resources which can in turn be pawned off to eve players. This is the entire point of Dust514. Territory for resources.
Eve players will not actually be building our guns. Our guns will be built using materials listed in the blueprints we buy. Currently, the materials is a hidden placeholder item called 'supplies' but should be expanding to a wider variety of items. Each time you spawn, some 'supplies' get used up to build your stuff. You probably won't need to worry about this for the hisec NPC matches as all indications are that the NPC corp will provide the 'supplies' as long as you have the blueprints.
For non-hisec corp battles, the supplies and clones will be provided by the war barge, meaning your CEO or whoever is responsible for the logistics aspects will be in charge of providing these for you.

But we can join EVE corps and alliances so why cannot they make us the governor of a planet.
