It seems odd that the first weapon a Heavy receives is a light weapon. With slow skill and isk progression your going to be stuck using a standard fit for awhile as a new heavy, even after putting skill points in either the hmg , forge gun or god help you the mass driver. If the swarm counted as a heavy weapon, then the heavy weapon skill set could be bought into and a gain actually felt. better reload times and so forth, for both the starter weapon your stuck with and whichever one you choose down the road. As things seem now, a new heavy feels like a burden to the team on the death match maps, unless the other team start spawning militia lvl LAV's. I have to resort to the Pistol, which sometimes works. a few points of extra armor does not equal increased mobility. A heavy should be able to turn around and at least get a shot off before being done in by a militia AR. And also please please fix the mass driver.\ sincerely some noob

pfft. oh yeah, 20k Sp for a rank of HMG is such a stretch.
also - scramblers are arguably stronger than assault rifles. Scout suits are imbalanced right now due to the hit detection issues and the server-side lag. These won't always be issues. Nothing wrong with heavies. |

Ya I have chosen to go the Heavy class path and have noticed the HMG is fun ass hell but pretty useless. Does it get much better or am i wasting my time and isk? |

In my opinion, almost all the Heavy weapons aren't strong enough to be worthwhile at the moment and need rebalancing. A case can be made for swarm launchers, but that's not actually a "heavy" weapon (it fits in a light weapon slot, as the OP mentions).
That said, you can get kills with an HMG. It's just that it's technically no better than an assault rifle overall at close range, worse than the shotgun in CQC, and completely useless at medium range. |

Well... Maybe they can make it like MG in real life? As a crew served weapon, it takes two people to properly use; a gunner and an ammo bearer. Maybe they could make the HMG more powerful and add better range, but in exchange the ammo if very limited; maybe only 100 rounds and reloads will come from nanohives or from logis with special HMG ammo pack equipment. It would make them a very unique weapon that are not compared with AR or shotguns. |

the HMG should do more damage its doing less damage than a SMG right now which is pathetic its a minigun it should be firing rounds atleast the size of assualt round but its not its firing smaller rounds than a SMG
no player should have to have another get kills |

Hmm...as a Heavy/MG I usually place in the top three K/D ratio list on most matches.
Maybe it's just because I think it's so fun I kept at it until it worked for me. That said, I won't use the HMG on wide open maps, the accuracy is too spotty for that. Seems great for the built up maps to me, though.
ED: As a note, if you just have a single rank in HMG it's going to suck. It gets +5% damage per level, and mulches pretty dang well once you hit rank 4 or 5. |
