I'm not a FPS hardcore player!!! but I'm on the genre since doom!! (I'm 34 years old!) I know keyboard and mouse is the way to go! but for the pad, I think you MUST change 3 buttons, or at least add a new button setting... the way to go is to put the knife attack in R2, the weapon change on triangle and the change position in R3... and the reason is that, you can't shot and melee at the same time! so do it with the same finger can be better, if you get so close to other player, you can change position with your thumb finger and can keep looking your target, that way you can avoid heat shots, and you can choose to shot or melee with the other finger... change weapon with the triangle is ok, cuz you don't change weapon all the time...
The other change you must do is to create a customize weapon system... so I can pick a single weapon, and change things to make it better! that way you can add a loot of stuff to sell too!! that weapon will be yours and players will have a "sentimental thing" for that weapon! still you can sell pre created weapons... add silencers, grips, etc... as MAG player I love to create my stuff... and I don't want to compare your game with another, but I was playing Blacklight Retribution, and the weapon customization is just amazing!!! you must see it and try to apply something like that to your game, that way will be more deep, that's a way to have more stuff to sell, and a loot of players will thank you!!!!

yeah - fully customizable controls are the way to go.
I would love the option to aim/shoot with L2/R2 and my Gioteck triggers, crouch with O, melee with R3, reload with Square, change weapon with triangle, jump with X, grenade with R1 - this is the set up I use with all my other FPS games (apart from BF3 unfortunately). |

well... you are right!! :P full customizable is better than anything else! :D I just put the configuration like that cuz I'm a killzone 2 and 3 veteran, and the control layout is a little crazy!! then I play modern warfare 2, and they almost have it with the control layout... if you play tactical, something cool happens... if you turn a corner and you find a guy, too away for melee... you can start shooting and press R3 to change position... and you will be doing the 2 things at the same time... you will win the fight! but the melee attack is in the circle.... so melee is not a option playing as tactical... then I play battlefield 3 and that was the perfect button layout to play as tactical!!!!! (but non of those games can compare to MAG! :P I stop MAG just for this beta) |

And this is the weapon customization in Black light... is JUST CRAZY!!!!! you can buy pre-made guns... but you can do yours too... and the level and deep is just amazing!!! this is a MUST HAVE for DUST!!!!
