Yep. Have to agree. Halo has had that title since the last xbox. Some people see a compression to Halo with Dust and I just don't see it. |

I had halo 1 2 and 3 and I'm having more fun with Dust then I ever haD WITH HALO and THIS only a beta. I can't wait to the release of this game. |

Why, tribes Ofcourse! What could be more scifi than everyone having rockets on their feet!
The honest answer is Quake/UT for FPS. Halo is for Xbox. I think if CCP embraces the arena style of gunplay and pace, while using the large battlefields we have, it'll be pretty special. Even Halo was pretty arena in style. We might be making the first tactical arena shooter ever perhaps? Time will tell. |

yes DUST514 has the potential we'll just have to see how it pans out
starhawk beta was my favorite before dust but i was anticipating dust before starhawk beta ended and i relly did not feel like forking over $60 to play another arena based non persistent shooter, even tho it's sci-fi atmosphere was very immersive, SH was probly one of the most atmospheric games i've played in a while
yea and tribes ariel assault on PS2 was my first console online FPS around 2002 and was very atmospheric/sci fi immersion.. i loaded it up a year ago and was sad to see it had no more servers active |

I put my money on the original tribes.
Its hard to beat the unique mechanics of that game even to this day.
Plus the original was played almost everyone since it was pirated like no other. |

Starhawk is actually a load of fun, it's still in my regular rotation of games, The heavy strategy elements were a breath of fresh air, and few things are more satisfying than crushing a tank with a pod coming in from orbit. |

yeah Tribes, the daddy. Quake RA close also.
Time will tell if Dust and beat them but they have a hard job on their hands if they are aiming for that although this game does have the potential to be just as great or even beter.

My favorites are Tribes, Tribes 2 and Battlefield 2142. Then again I played them all competitively so I'm biased.
Maybe Dust can be the first console online shooter to actually compete with PC shooters. |

Starhawk is a TPS (Third Person Shooter) with RTS elements implemented through it's gameplay. How is that in anyway a FPS (First Person Shooter)? Do explain people. If we are simply going by PlayStation3 releases though I again refer to Quake, and Unreal Tournament alike. I suppose it's a matter of taste though. I like Dust514 but officially it has not released, and I have no final judgment on how it will turn out. It's a work in progress. Ha-ha. Seriously though I'd say ultimately in my biased opinion I would say Unreal Tournament as it is gritty, dark, and simple. You are fighting in an arena for survival, money, and fame. Nuff' said. Plus you cannot camp in that game. Ha-ha. Objectively? I'd say Halo is prettier, and indulges in more freedoms with more character creation, and the forge map creator. Has more backing these days then Counter Strike or Unreal Tournament and well it has, Cortana. Whom only seems to get sexier with every installment. Anyway good game, but really the story lost touch with third installment. Halo: ODST was a nice side story, and a nice change of pace for what it was, and was better then Halo3. Halo: Reach looked colorful, and was a decent story backed by a weird series of mini short movies or something. I'm hoping that the new developers 434 Industries or whatever? I think. I just hope they can bring the main canon story back together or start something new. The flood, and covenenant got old pretty quickly I suppose. Especially without -- Red Vs. Blue -- to back up the series in a great and fun way.
Anyway.. Good game. Just not my favorite, or what I grew up on when it came to playing "online" in the FPS world. Too bad Epic Games is full douche' bag arse monkeys. I miss you Midway (publisher). Hydro Thunder may you rest in peace, and still be functional in some arcade. Amen. |
