tl;dr:
at launch:
- highsec matches - factional warfare matches (infrastructure provided by the militia, no troup transports via eve
- mixed corps
- special ammunition for Orbital Bombardments
- ground troups can request support, eve players will see the request and can act
not at launch:
- owning planets outside of Factional Warfare, industry (not 100% clear)
- possibly using mercs to change timers |

I hope we can shoot back because they make it sound like we are just toy soldiers for eve corps to pound on from space. |

Orbital strikes are requested and those requests are perhaps fulfilled by EVE players. It isn't like EVE players will be able to simply park a ship someplace and constantly rain down orbital strikes on matches indiscriminately. |

That article gets lots of facts wrong, from fairly minor things, to major things like calling faction warfare "EVE's PvE portion".
Faction warfare is PvP, it's just somewhat more controlled than other forms. It's still mostly about players shooting at other players.
EVE's PvE portion is missions. Pretty much everything else is a form of PvP, from mining, to trade, to exploration.
Also, they call it a spaceships fighting game, but there is a ton to do besides fighting. There are plenty of players that are billionaires or trillionaires that have never fired a shot.
Pretty much the only thing I'd take as a fact from it is direct quotes from CCP devs.
Also, it's been possible to ferry stuff to/from a planet's surface for a year or so now. |
