Ok... as if they didn't cost a fortune already, I've lost a FEW drop ships simply because they didn't take off! I'd jump out and get back in to see if it remedied the bug, but to no avail.
Allies can get in and take off. Unfortunately... to fly away and crash my newly purchased pride and joy, never to return...
uff -_- The least they could do is buy me a new one
As politely as I asked (frantically shouted) into the mic for these people to give me back mah toy, they simply wouldn't or couldn't hear me.
On a side note: Really CCP, please get persistent voice chat up and running soon. please? So EVERY ONE on your team can hear a "global" team chat channel. Or at least default it to 'ON', if there's something I'm not doing right. So far I've heard no one on voice chat...
From there, people can mute the folks they don't wanna hear and/or switch back and forth from team to squad comms. C'mon, we've all muted that profane adolescent in other FPSs before.
Anyway, I digress.
There is definitely a bug that affects the pilots ability to take off (L1, the "gas pedal" just doesn't work). I've experienced it in the Grimsnes and a few times in the Gorgon (Maybe a gallente bug?). Strangely enough, I can still move the VTOLs and rotate the dammed sitting duck on the ground (z-axis is it?). Just can't take off.
The last time this happened, me and a gunner crew jumped in to my Gorgon right as it was drop lifted to our location. Which was a hot zone..
"Well Val, that was just poor planning on your part, buddy. Pal. Man. Dude. Person-guy......"
Yeah, yeah... Well, had we been able to actually fly the bird, then we woulda totally owned that map, dawg... you know it, and pwned n00bz, raped MCCs, h4x0r3d their tanx, banged their spouses and/or life partners, conquered Sparta, what have you...

I flailed the VTOLs and spun it like a secret Jim Carey prototype hidden by CCP devs, that I unlocked with a super secret cheat-code, plus infected with rabies (built-in passive module). All in hopes that it would knock some sense into the machine before SLs came flying into our b-holes.
Yah, nope. We got blowed up
Moments later, I pissed-offedly emerge from the nearest cloning vat another 150K poorer.
Thanks, frustrating, poo-poo beta version of Dust 514. Will you guys at least refund me my ISK and SP so I can reallocate it on the actual game launch if you're going to wipe our chars? At least a portion of it? Pretty please?
Note:  Please! If you join a pilot that has called in a drop ship, you guys sit there a few moments motionless after he jumps in the pilot seat, then he gets out and scratches his head... He's experiencing this damned bug! Don't just jump in pilot seat and take off! He needs an ally to get it flying. It's a work-around for the bug (personally, haven't tested it because people fly the hell off around creation with my ship.) Once you've got her off the ground a few feet, PUT IT BACK DOWN AND EXIT. Especially, If he hops out and is frantically shooting you. That should set off the light bulb in your brain. He will be able to fly it better than you. Not to mention, he mortgaged his house just to buy it.
By the way, save your scolds. I know its a beta. Work is being done, etc. I get it. I merely b*tch and moan in jest  On the real, though, beta...? this feels more like a MFin zeta. |
