************* ROUND 2 ************* What the Devs kindly said:
Days: 31st, 1st, 2nd 7th, 8th, 9th
Time: 0:00 GMT
Notice that it's Midnight in GMT.
That means it's really: Days: 30th, 31st, 1st **************************** ***EDIT*** It seems that someone at CCP does not understand time zones very well. ACTUAL DAYS: 31st (0GMT the 1st), 1st (0GMT the 2nd), 2nd (0GMT the 3rd) ****************************
Time:
HST (GMT-10): 2PM HADT (GMT- 9): 3PM AKDT (GMT- 8): 4PM PDT/MST (GMT- 7): 5PM MDT (GMT- 6): 6PM CDT (GMT- 5): 7PM EDT (GMT- 4): 8PM
Remember that it lasts for 1 hour and 30 minutes.
And PLEASE, if I made a horrible mistake correct me!
(PS: CCP is still having trouble grasping the concept of timezones.) |

Regardless, I am operating under the assumption that corp battles will take place for me as follows: (East Coast USA time | EST | New York City | GMT -4)
Friday Aug 31st @ 8pm Saturday Sept 1st @ 8pm Sunday Sept 2nd @ 8pm Regarding your point of contention, that's exactly what I posted in my opening post of this very thread. Which means that the battles take place on the 30th and 31st of August, and the 1st of September.
I'm guessing you just kind of glossed over that. |

I'm slow and need things spelled out to me like I am in 2nd grade. SO....if I live in New York City on the East Cost of the USA will I have corp battles starting at 8:00pm on Thursday (Aug 30th) or Friday (Aug 31st)? Thank you kindly for your patience. No problem.
Unless CCP itself doesn't understand time zones and made an error, your first battles anywhere in the USA will take place on Thursday August 30th. |

IF we are allowed to play in both EU & US corp battle sessions, that means the available times for me would be: (East Coast USA) 8pm Thursday August 30th (1st US session) 4pm Friday August 31st (1st EU session) 8pm Friday August 31st (2nd US Session) 4pm Saturday September 1st (2nd EU session) 8pm Saturday September 1st (3rd US Session) 4pm Sunday September 2nd (3rd EU Session) Correct or did I miss something? No, that looks correct.
But I'm betting that it is secluded since to reduce lag CCP has local sever clusters for each region. Likely only the battles will show up if you are in that region. However, if you know someone in the EU and you join their squad, you just may be able to piggyback into their battles... |

Remember that the EU plays at a different time than the US.
While the US plays at 0:00 GMT, the EU plays at 20:00 GMT. That should put you playing at 23:00 your time, which is not nearly as late for you as if you had to play when the US does.
***EDIT*** I wrote this thread just for the US because I am not familiar with time zones in the EU, and most of the US is not familiar with dealing with times based on GMT. |

I looked him up using search and he doesn't exist on these forums. This post is the very first one to even include his name.
And I just saw that post by CCP Frame. That's good to know. Take advantage of it everybody.

It seems like someone at CCP indeed doesn't understand time zones after all.
It's now 10 minutes after 0:00 GMT on August 31st and there is no sign there will be any Corporation Battles today.
***EDIT*** For the US, I mean. |

EMPTY SL0T wrote:For the continental USA there are only 4 time zones.
Eastern (CCP server time -4 hours in the summer or -5 hours in the winter.) Central (CCP server time -5 hours in the summer or -6 hours in the winter.) Mountain (CCP server time -6 hours in the summer or -7 hours in the winter.) Pacific (CCP server time -7 hours in the summer or -8 hours in the winter.)
In the summer, when Daylight Savings Time is used, the USA time zones are called, for instance,
Eastern = EDT (Eastern Daylight Time)
and in the winter they are called, for instance,
Eastern = EST (Eastern Standard Time)
If you are an American and you don't know all the continental USA time zones, then I also hope you haven't finished fourth grade yet.
CCP does not change their server time for Daylight Savings. So, in the summer EVE server downtime is at 7:00am EDT, and in the Winter the server downtime is at 6:00am EST. I guess there is no Daylight Savings time in space, or else there are no time zones. `Aye?
And WTF do they do in binary star systems, which are more prevalent in the real universe than systems with one star (our Sun), like ours.???
M.T.
That's correct.
However the United States isn't just the Continental United States. It also includes:
Hawaii: Hawaii Standard Time, because like I said before, Hawaii doesn't like daylight. Everybody who lives there must be vampires.
The Aleutian Islands: Hawaii-Aleutian Daylight Time, because the people who live there think that they can trick tourists into thinking they are really in Hawaii.
Alaska: Alaska Daylight Time. No joke.
And since Arizona observes Mountain Standard Time all year round it must be made note of as well. |
