Some suggestions among which to choose (Skirmish mode):
- Most proficient Squad in match stats - Extra SP for most number of hacks - Best pilot ((calculated from max seconds alive X number of kill assists) dropship pilots are often uncredited and some of them rock))
- Best player per dropsuit class

Yeah....
instead of just a k/d ratio.... use a kill/assists/revives/death ratio (rank it on kills, then deaths, then assists then revives)
Maybe have fuller stats on a 3rd page (so its not all too cluttered)
Your suggestion is a bit like what they used to do in worms after battles....
I totally think we should have a 'most cowardly' and 'worst aim' category lol |

Many people have called for more stats being displayed both at the end of game and on the leader boards, which I am all in favor of. Your proposal, to reward specific behaviors outside of the game itself I am not in favor of. We already get points for kills, hacks, assists, revives, etc... Why should I get any more points just because I revive more people than JoeSmoe? How would that further team game play or realistically reward all players for their contributions? Your suggestion would promote lonewolf-ism and detract from a central mechanic of the game, namely organizing and working with a group towards a collective goal for a collective reward.
Yes, there are individual rewards but once we are part of a corp those individual rewards are going to be dependent on our corp's success and our standing in said corp. This is not to say that there will be no individuals who make an impact on the game. Certainly players like Omnipotent Zito will retain some level of importance even if they don't join a corp. My issue here is that by adding individual bonuses for being the best a certain tasks you are encouraging players to repeat those tasks over and over again even if that is not what is required to control points or keep your team from using clones.
Think about Team Fortress two where the highest ranked players did nothing to further gameplay and simply teleported back and forth on each others' teleporters in impossible to reach areas. That is the kind of non-constructive game play this idea encourages and I for one do not want it to become a dominant means to "success" in this game. |
