i will start this off by saying Read the skill info find what you want to learn long term and dont train from lvl 1 to 5 unless it is required if something you need to equip. train your lvl's 1 then 2 and so on across the board this way you spend less sp and get more sooner. don't spend a heap on a lvl 5 till you train the others.
And
Militia gear gets better with skill (SP in game skill) a well skilled player can do some nice damage in Militia gear alone.
Any one else got good advice for new dust players. |

I actually have a bit of advice: Start on Global skills first. These are the skills that affect everything, no matter what level gear you're using (Weaponry, Engineering, Mechanics, etc). No, these won't give you immediate access to all the ubermensch stuff immediately, but when you do start working on the more specialized skills, you'll be able to create more diverse options that suit the playstyle you've become accustomed to while building up the skills. This also means a little less pain if you decide you want to try another role and suit type. |

Go for your defence skills first, no point in bringing a tuxedo to a barn dance if it ain't Teflon coated! Always add to your Electronics and engineering, better have the CPU/PG requirements for the Good Stuff later. Weaponry is a must do, otherwise you will feel like you shooting BB pellets at clones. Specialise in your clones field don't think that you can learn all weapon skills at once, get really good at one and always work on one more. Don't be tempted to instant upgrade when you have a lot of skill points, if you are doing ok on the battlefield, stick with it. Grind that SP. Choose skills wisely, I saw somebody on here state that Dropsuit Command is bugged and not to bother upgrading it, that is disinformation, it works well enough to hide your profile on the active scanner. Use it. If they can't see you nearby, you may just get the jump on them! There's more but i'm kinda zoned... need coffee... |

Spend two points in Swarm Launcher Operation and one point in Grenadier. You need an AV fit for vehicular heavy matches otherwise you die too much to tanks. Get one point in Drop Uplink Deployment and Nanotechnology. DUs and NHVs are great tools to have on suits and can earn you extra WPs and SPs throughout a match.
Train Weaponry, Engineering, Electronics, and Shield Operation to maximum levels (mechanics instead of this skill if you're not a scout). Pick ONE main weapon and ONE sidearm and start leveling these weapon skills. When you get your weapon skills to 5, do not go into the advanced proficiency trees because the ISK gain right now can't sustain prototype weaponry (or really even Advanced Weaponry unless you consistently not die). Instead, start training up the "X weapon Reload / Sharpshooter / Upgrade" skills to make yourself even more effective.
If you choose to be a pilot, ignore the weapon progression trees and start gunning for your vehicle skills. Logistics is probably the suit to use for this because there's lots of non-combat ways to boost your SP gain. |
