The controls should mimic the tried and true vehicular controls (i.e. Halo and GTA). HAV and LAV should accelerate and decelerate and reverse like they did in halo (which ever the way the camera was pointed if in 3rd person).
The LAV steering control should not be in the stick, but the vehicle should turn which ever way the camera is facing.
While driving in first person, the LAVs should mimic the tried and true GTA style with a button (shoulder button) for accelerating and brake/reverse.
HAVs should be like the tank controls for Halo, when your in the tank (I don't know anyone who can think of a better one)
Both the ground vehicles AND flying ones definitely need tweaking! Sorry devs...
Dropship controls are VERY awkward. I saved up ISK to test out the militia dropship versions and probably crashed at least 3 (what a waste of money) due to the controls not being mapped out well.
gain and drop altitude buttons are okay and so are activating modules, but the steering and turning controls need to be able to be modified more (such as swapping the twist and VTOL thrust direction, i.e. the left and right directions on the sticks. On standard and southpaw for aerial vehicles. its the stick movements that can either twist the Dropship, like a top, and the ones that change the direction of the VTOL thrusts). ALSO to be able to invert a desired stick or even both!!!
Especially for the aerial vehicles, true flight sim pilots and that wanna get into FPS/Vehicular combat blended games like this, will WANT THESE OPTIONS!! It will make the pilot classes much happier |

dropship controls like battlefield modern combat helo controls would be great. and the camera spring back to center sucks. |

I'm with you on the ability to separately invert the R and L stick for dropships. I like the standard layout except that when I want to peek over the nose with the camera I have to pull it back rather than push forward.
The actual flight physics are great. They are nimble vector thrust ships and actually take practice to master, just as they should be. Don't dumb everything down. You have a LAV if you want an easy ride, assuming CCP seperates steering and acceleration.
I'm not so sure about the HAV's. I figured out how to drive them pretty quickly. |
