So I was in a match and I climbed up a hill to a Supply Depot just in time to witness a guy who called in an LAV from on top of the hill have his LAV dropped off right on top of the Supply Depot next to him on the hill. Many people not only witnessed this, but tried to jump up to the vehicle to get into it in an effort to get it down.
When the vehicle's owner tired of this he called in a second LAV, which proceeded to be dropped off ALSO on the Supply Depot.
This one landed much lower on the Supply Depot, and could actually be entered, but it was still being suspended a short distance off of the ground and could not be driven away because of that. So someone used it as a new stationary turret, and I proceeded to (with a little work) jump onto the top of the lower vehicle, then jump up and into the upper vehicle, which definitely wasn't going anywhere.
Another glitch seemed to occur here. As I decided to use it as a stationary turret, I entirely assumed I'd be dead really quickly due to my obvious position. However, after killing several opponents, I noticed that no one could actually shoot the LAV while it was directly on top of the Supply Depot because the Supply Depot seemed to be blocking the shots. Sniper rounds, Light weapons rounds, and even tank blasts were not dealing damage. Eventually, though, someone got out a swarm launcher, climbed up higher than my position, and launched a swarm from his upward position. This proceeded to finally get around the barrier protecting me and destroyed the LAV I was sitting in.
Now in all likelihood both LAVs he called in were of the free variety and cost him nothing, but what if they didn't? Whatever money he did spend, or at least could have spent, was entirely wasted. Dropships should not be dropping off vehicles in places that people can't normally get to, especially if even after miraculously reaching the vehicle it can't be driven away.
On a final note, I took a picture of it with my cell phone, but I have no idea if it's possible to post the picture anywhere where only those who are allowed to view it can see it. If there is a way, I'd be happy to share the humor. |
