I feel that keeping the squad together is the best way to achieve victory, and one of the best ways to do that on Ambush maps is drop uplinks. Unfortunately people are very inconsistent in their willingness to use them.
So, what do I have to do to get you to use them? Would you be more likely to use my drop uplink if...
1) I stayed nearby to protect it? 2) I put it somewhere out of the way where a battle isn't likely to happen? (outside the walls on Communication or Biomass, for example) 3) If I put it somewhere out in the open? (middle of the road, for example) 4) If I put it near allies? (not always possible) 5) If I put it near enemies? 6) If I put it near friendly vehicles? 7) If I put it away from friendly vehicles? 8) If I put it in a nook or cranny near major thoroughfares but not likely to be seen? 9) Some other factor, please mention it! |

most people are selfish and not team players. They would rather use the slots for other things that give them the edge. Not things that would give the team an edge. |

1, 4, 6, 8 are awesome, please never go with 2 or 3
Spawning into an area far from the action or away from allies is likely to make me choose a different spawn point than a randomly or thoughtlessly dropped uplink. Clever drops such as on the pipes or in the crevices near the support beams I've found to be really good places to be able to spawn in at, also inside buildings or other cover, it really helps to have 3 seconds to get your bearings when your freshly spawned.
I'm running mainly assault and am currently torn between skilling into Drop Uplinks or Nanite Injectors next. Mobile spawn points are awesome but there are not nearly enough logi's running around so a little extra life support is seeming like a good idea. |

I would use it if it were hidden near an objective. For example, we capture A. A few minutes later, the enemy captures it. We can instantly get behind them and dominate. |

Most players don't use them frequently because they're not sure how to use them. Most of the time they get stuck on "A,B,C,D, or starting," because they haven't been playing long enough to understand that you can select your drop-point.
I think the best way you have of getting people to use them is to hide them near objectives so that back-capping is possible; however, be careful for Flux grenades. |

If the droplink isn't surrounded by lots of blues why should I use them? There's the delay and safety issue.
Drop them when you're grouped up with a bunch of people holding a position. |

No it doesn't. I've used my own droplinks plenty of times. |

what i believe is the best way to use drop uplinks is to flank ur enemy that way u surround your enemy with people spawning behind them

Not true, it stays up. Only goes away when max uses, have been used up or it's destroyed by enemy.
@OP:
I couldn't tell you the number of times I've dropped an uplink in a large map with 5 letters, only to have teammates just ignore it and spawn at the original spawn points. I drop it at one of the further objectives (usually within 50-100m of the objective, hidden) I even mention it on comms, and tell my teammates to spawn there so we can capture a far letter. Would be an easy hack....
My team can have zero objectives taken, instead of spawning on my uplink, they just continue to use the default spawn and try to ONLY go for the one objective closest to the default spawn. A couple times I've even seen them do this while getting spawn camped. MAYBE, if I'm lucky, I'll see one or two +25s the whole match.

I think a lot of players just hit "X" right away instead of picking a spawn point. They don't understand anything other than "more kills makes me move up the scoreboard, which makes me feel better about myself as a person". Concepts such as tactics and teamwork are completely alien to them. |

This is what I always try to do. But, if it is on Ambush I try to place it in an area with good over watch so that people cannot jump them the moment they spawn. |

I've noticed this as well. I believe that people think that they still take longer to spawn you. I noticed that in this build even the militia drop uplink will only take 10 seconds to spawn.
In ambush I will drop them in locations that are easily defensible just out of the way of combat with nanohives closer to the line to promote the team to stay in the general area. Of course half the time the team completely ignores this and decides to run around the map as a mobile blob.
I've noticed that when more than 2 or 3 players use the spawn point my team wins 19 out of 20 games. |
