I've been negative lately about the gun game and had a chance to really sit down with the new build lately. I would like to take the time to identify the things that I have seen improvement on.
- Menu loading is much quicker. In the old builds it could take up to 10-15 seconds for menu in the UI to load. This is much better and feel comfortable navigating things like the market
- The graphics have improved tremendously, the lighting and environmental effects are coming along nicely. Durring one game, I could almost imagine I was actually fighting on a planet in a different universe somewhere.
- I have noticed the change in day time, night time, and ground textures (grass, rock, snow) and am impressed
- As above, I think I have noticed random things strewn across the battlefield in random locations each time. Big pieces of equipment and such, these things will eventually help with the empty feeling of the maps.
- Party system, just that it is there. It has a lot of bugs and problems right now but the feature and idea is nice.
- I like the new merc quarters. I imagine 2 seperate teams are working on warbarge & merc quarters things since its more closely related to carbon than it is unreal
- AV Grenades are super nice. I like how they can kill stationary LAVs but not fast moving ones it prevents gun emplacement style LAV camping.
- Voice works really well, channels are really clear and I like how you can talk to your squad/team even in loading screens (though I'm still debating the concept of paying to talk to my clan)
I'm not trying to kiss *** here but I think I should give credit where credit is due. There are tons of things that I believe CCP is aware of (especially after that joystiq article) so I'm not going to hark on those. When I noticed these things, I started to feel better about the games development and potential for success. |

I've played FPS's since the days of quake and over the last number of years I have become so very very tired and bored with them. Until I got access to dust a few months ago, more so with this build, Fantastic depth to character build, and the way the maps are starting to shape up.
I am fairly forgiving of the bugs n that as this is still a work in progress but still I have high hopes for the furture. |

Despite all the various problems with it I have been amazed at how fast CCP has responded to feedback and problems we have raised throughout this process. This to me signals that this game will be a tremendous success as we still have four months until release and a Dev Team that is very responsive. |

Would say that a positive post gives credence and weight to any harsh or negative criticism you bring to the forums. Level headed and observant forum members will be less likely to lump your posts in with non constructive tantrum posts. And some of the negative criticism needs to be heard but gets lost in the noise.
You know what you like, you know what you don't like, and that is what you are gonna write about on the forum. Simple as that.
Doesn't look like brown nosing from where I sitGǪ
And yes, the joystiq article points to some of the areas where there is room for improvement that people have been freaking out about here on forums. It is easy to dismiss them when the posts make you want to punch yourself in the face and never have children. But since it is out in the open, more or less, since last week, maybe we can all chill out and work on helping improve the game.
The game is just going to get better and better. Though there'll be plenty of missteps along the way. None of us really know how this is all going to turn out but I believe the game is gonna be good, and one of those rewarding games you can play for years, where you'll get out of it what you put into itGǪ kind of thing. |

+1 Jonny. I'm often negative too, and you do mention things which are nice. Some new additions have their own problems, but thats life. I think even the miserable people like me are finding the latest build going into right direction. And with the right tools.
Btw the battle you could imagine was a different universe, was it the lvl with big jagged rocks jutting up? Yeah, me too :D |

Galaxy, not universe. Dust takes place in our universe but in a different Galaxy via a worm hole that has since closed up. |
