I noticed when we jump we are not able to fire. It would be a nice to have. Similarly when our dampners get activated or we jump from a dropship we cant fire. It would be nice if I could shoot that clown below me when Im in the air! |

I don't think we should be able to fire while jumping. Not sure I feel the same way about dropping a substantial distance, like from a dropship, but you'd have to decide between shooting and activating your dampeners--you shouldn't be able fire while you're dampening. |

You dont have to press X all the time when you are dampning! Once you hit X and release the dampners are activated! After that my hands are free! I rather take pot shots at whoever I can rather than twiddle my thumbs! Doink! |

Iam no troll mate ive just been in builds before that where the strafing+terrible hit detection and jumping turned every fight into one big dancing cluster f**k i remember quite vividly testing to see how bad its was being able to jump over peoples head shooting at them the entire time the reasoning behind not being able to shoot was added therefor working as intended, just because someone does not agree with you does not make them a troll,
The senerio i described has been fixed to most extent even if it is still a little bit still there with scout+hit detection+lagspikes = invincible scout

Wouldn't this promote bunny hopping? Besides trying to accuactly fire a assault rifle or any gun with no stable position would be impossible.
Besides scouts would be the only one who would benifit from this normally. |

I also don't think people should be able to fire when jumping up similarly to not being able to fire while running. I'm glad they removed those abilities to get unskilled/cheap kills. To many people believe in the ridiculousness of action movies, that actually goes against whats trained by those who actually use firearms, just for the sake of "Looking Cool". Perhaps thats the reason why the ability to fire while free falling was removed. The likeness of killing someone during a free fall would require a ridiculous amount of luck not skill even if aiming on a fixed targe. The reason why is because due to the speed of the falling person their fired bullets would actually be moving at two directions at once. The bullet would be moving in the direction of the weapon was aimed at in addition to slightly moving in the direction that the player was falling which require completely different method of target leading from an already ridiculously long distance & fast speed.
As for the dampeners, not being able to move after they are active makes sense since the dampeners are responsible for keeping your body stable through strategically placed friction generators that are also responsible for a person's slower decent. However I think the dampeners actually are unrealiscically overpowered. I say this because part of my enjoyment of using the dampeners comes from the thrill or rush of using the dampeners at the very last second. However having actually Parachuted/Skydived before I know that there is certain point in a fall due to the speed of the fall that if friction is applied to late a person will receive injury or death regardless if the friction is applied. Instatntly stopping at the last second from a ridiculous speed (without any gradual decent in speed) should result in a players death even if its due to the dampeners. As proven with NASA's land rover landing on Mars safely stopping from fast speed requires a significant amount of distance in addition to power. A solution to this would be requiring the dampeners to deployed by a set distance. The indication for deploying dampeners could also be color coded so that the dampener deployment words would change from GREEN to YELLOW to ORANGE to RED. Green & Yellow would mean that if deployed at that time you would result with 0 damage. Orange would mean that you'd result with significant shield or health damage. Red would mean that you unavoidably are going to die, have failed at life again & should start thinking about the next dropsuit loadout to select. Actually there should be no Red indicator. The activate dampener words should be replaced by the spawn location selection sreen, lol. As for the actual characters I would find it completely hilarious to witness a character die from "getting hit by the ground", lol. I would actually take the time to stop and laugh at that even though that would actually get me killed by someone else. I wouldn't mind at all having someone else's improper or failed dampener deployment causing me to die laughing. It would totally be worth it & I'd actually pay good ISK to see that, lol. Never got old in Battlefield 1943
Anyways back to the topic at hand, I actually would like to be able to freely look around before activating my dampeners & as it would make enjoying the freefall more cool & enjoyable, lol. Ohhhh falling dead bodies, lol. I'm actually goint to make that an actual post, who's with me? |

As a career Scout who loves bouncing around the room in various ways, not a big deal.
MAYBE, mid-air firing with massively reduced accuracy... But it doesn't really matter.
And in the last build, you COULD fire while jumping, but NOT while falling from high enough to trigger your inertia dampener. |

if a heavy fires his HMG mid jump, can he get onto that dropship hovering above him with all the recoil? and then he kicks the gunner out, turns the turret towards the pilot, frags him, jumps out of the dropship and makes a safe landing thanks to the inertia dampen.... naaaah he would be making a soft landing shooting his hmg as well.....
seriously, shooting while jumping is wrong. ever tried doing that in real life? no sane person would |
