What does it do? Does decreasing it make you harder for radar (or whatever the hell that minimap with blue and orange dots up top is) to spot? Does it make you harder to hit? What? |

a smaller signature radius means that you have a smaller hitbox, so you're harder to hit |

It reduces blast damage when its lower and makes it harder to see.
Increasing signature radius increases blast damage and makes it harder to hide, shields do this typically. |

wrong
it makes it harder for the radar to pick you up and also you vanish as a threat when you go behind a corner for cover
it has nothing to do with hitbox |

It's nothing to do with hitboxes, lol. It's about seeing the icons above people's heads and on the radar. The more radius, the easier to spot. |

wrong, don't lie to the guy, he'll believe that
it determines how fast your blip vanishes from the minmap after someone on the enemy team stops seeing you its also mediated by your suit type, scouts vanish quickly, heavies slowly

I'm pretty sure signature profile is just a sensor mechanic, a higher signature profile makes you easier to spot on the minimap, and determines how easy it is to hide yourself from enemies. |

Signature radius prolly affects at what distance from an enemy(or friendly?) looking in your direction puts you on the minimap for all to see. This will be modified by the enemy's dropsuit type and Sensor skill level.
It prolly affects how quickly your dot fades off the minimap when you're not in any enemy's field of view.
Also, afaik, the 'radar' isn't really radar - its visual location information fed from all team members to your HUD. So if someone is approaching you from behind and there is no teammate to spot that enemy and put him on the map as a red dot, you will never be alerted to his presence by the minimap.
Also, note that you can see enemies on the map that do not have a red/blue/green friend-or-foe marker - often you have to zoom in to see something as small as a soldier.
The above is all guesstimation and inference - please correct, improve and expand as needed.

In EvE it was both hitbox, modifier for splash/aoe weapon damage, and affected how long it took to lock a target. I assume it only effects the sensors in Dust, if a hitbox is 25% smaller do shots to head or to the feet now miss? If it does affect the size of hitbox, it would explain some of the hit detection complaints. He has dropsuit lv5, so shots to his head miss would confuse a lot of people. |

I hope it doesn't affect hit box here or well

In EVE, it affects lock time and such, but in DUST it's probably related to showing up on the mini-map.
If you or a teammate has a visual, they show up, but after visual is lost, they'll disappear after a short time. |

In a nutshell, the smaller your signature level, the less likely and the harder it is for you to show up on the enemy's HUD. It has NOTHING to do with the hitbox. |

One thing I have noticed is that since I reduced my signature, I get shot a lot by teammates when I'm in a scout suit...

LVL 5 on a scout suit last build and I could stand behind corp mates on the other team and they could not see me. Makes it alot of fun tbh.
Edit: also use the knife cos you still wont show up and when they do turn around then you can brake out the lazorz. |
