Hey all, been following the game for a while. Just bought the merc pack the other night and played a few games. The gameplay seems decent, a little better than I expected, but still not as crisp as most shooters. Lots of potential though.
I have a few questions.
What drives radar and icons on players on the map? Is there a spotting mechanic similar to BF? Is someones equipment causing it? Or is it gunfire or movement?
What are Rail Gun installations? Why do I randomly die to them? Right now this seems to be my bain. Dont know what they are, where they are or what they are doing, but I will just be doing me thing and die to a rail gun installation.
Finally, I cant tell if this is a bug with the game, or if my controller is jacked. But the menu for deploying tanks and **** will just randomly come up if I am making quick moves on the joystick. At first i chalked it up to me accidently brushing the d-pad. But its happened a lot more, and i know I didnt touch the d-pad. So I did a test, and just held my controller, spinning the left stick, and sure enough that menu would come up often.
This is a pain because PLENTY of times when i go to shoot someone, that menu comes up and I cant move or shoot until I close it. It also happens a lot when I try to sprint. I'm guessing its my controller because I can't see how that would be a bug on the games end. But I havent experienced problems with other games.
Also, any general tips for having a good time? Ive noticed using heavies in the assault type role works well for now since it allows me to take a ton more damage compared to assault or scout. I also noticed scout with a shotgun is fun to run around and shoot faces. |

Radar: never played BF so cant compare, but for Dust its a mixture of sight, dropsuit siginature[think heat emission], and a buggy beta
Rail Gun Installations: no idea, lve yet to encounter one...unless thats the new name for Missile Installations we had last build[is someones name attached to your death, like in a normal battle[ie Vigsniper101{Sniper Rifle}Joe Blow]
Menu Pop up: Its a bug from least last build, try switching to another controller, it helped me
General tips: have fun, try out different suits, scan the forums, ask questions, and remember "work in progress". |

Buildings seem to appear if you or a teammate has line of sight...
Railgun Installation -> Big ass fixed guns, you can enter them and shoot ppl
Seems to be a bug in the current build. see here https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=32301&find=unread |

Railgun installations are big turrets capable of one shotting most infantry, even on splash.
If they are hitting you, that turret probably has a person manning it, if you can sneak up on the turret, you might take it out with a swarm launcher, but getting in close is key, once you get so close (a few meters) the gun can't aim low enough to hit you. |

Railgun installations are big stationary guns. Somebody is sniping you from one. The problem is that it is much harder to see where the shots are coming from vs. missile turrets. Also, they're quite accurate, so there won't be any tracer fire. Just a blue haze and instant death.
The best advice is to avoid the areas where this keeps happening to you. If you can figure out which turret it is, try and sneak around behind them to take out the operator. I've had no luck fighting them with Swarm Launchers. |

Rail gun batteries are made for sniping and are quite deadly, computer controlled ones don't usually do anything unless you shoot them first ... If there is a human element involved how ever...
