I would like to know?
Maybe they shouldn't, tanks are expensive.
And probably should not be used for such things.
Here let me get out and take/hold this objective while you drive to repair/ do what ever you do.
I guess the real question is would you sacrifice your expensive tank ? |

I would say yes, provided the rally point isn't the enemies spawn... Even then, it's a tank FFS. Too many people are worried about ISK like it matters. It's pathetic. Not all tankers are like it. But really, a cheap tank costs a games worth of ISK. I throw them away because it changes the game up a little. So IMHO, yes Tanks should follow orders like any other player.
They will of course tell you to set the objective as the tank... |

And losing 500+ is a concern? For a team player? Mercs loose their load outs defending objectives .

I make 140k a game. Instead of cheap I should have said cheapest. The real question is wtf are you doing throwing a 500k tank at a 140k reward? |

Depends on what the objective is and why you're being told to go there.
Quite often a tank will be more valuable holding position somewhere else, or just doing a "hit and run" attack on the way past the marked objective/location instead of actually going there and sticking around. |

Really you should never sacrifice a tank into doing the objective.
There are many smart ways to going about helping a team around a rally point and depending where it is at sometimes it is safe to enter that rally point and be useful.
Going suicidal is just ******** because your loosing a very powerful weapon on the field if it is a good tank with a good/great tank driver. And if your loosing the match already your probably going to for sure loose the match now.
usually a lot of tank drivers do help around objectives unless they are in tank kill box areas.
Now one mistake I see people doing alot is following tanks all the time a tank goes to a objective and team follows we start hack tank leaves. team leaves with tank and hero spawns or hiders come in and retake it right away.
One thing people should remember when playing with a tank is let the tank go ahead leave it alone secure the objective check for people hiding around the area and wait for hero spawners then move forward and you will probably see a few people the tank did not get on your way to the next objective because they where hiders.
So it does go both ways tanks can have drivers that just care about K/D and go for the most kills and do not really help clear mobs off objectives all the times. But you can have people on your team that fail not because of the tank but because they fail to fully make sure the objective area is secure because they are to concentrated on what the tank is doing. |

I'm starting to wonder what a tanks purpose is, they seem to be the biggest lone wolfs, just out for there own kills. They seem to leave a battle at the time you need them the most. |

A tank's purpose is to lend heavy firepower to their team, making capturing objectives easier.
Sadly, few tank drivers use them like that, instead using them as K/D ratio boosters. |

Something is very wrong if someone is losing 500k in Dropsuits per game[think my worst so far has been about 80k...and lm a ground Merc].
As for tanks...what are these myths of which you speak?
Have to laugh...game about hour ago, someone on Mic said "getting a Dropship"...3 people said "hell no, dont waste your money"...he came back with "lve got 10mill"[how does anyone have 10mill in this build???]....."they came back with " save it for later".
In the end...no dropship.
I think in the 30 or so games lve played with this build, lve seen one dropship and one tank total.
Last build...way too many, this build, way to few. Next build...just right...l hope. |

Rally orders have the purpose to rally before a attack so everyone of the squad arrives there at the same time so yes they should follow. |

Marauders were to hunt other tanks. Some tank fits die if standing still, so have to do hit and run, others fits can stick around. I would guard objectives last build, if in a fit that could stop moving. Nano sagaris only took about 3-4 hits to die, less then 10 sec vs good forge gunner, couldn't stay in one spot but I could move past at near lav speed all 3 obj repeatedly to kill/pin down/scare off enemy.
Rally could be fall back and regroup also. Since tank move at such a different speed, it would work better if they attacked same area from different direction, or rallied behind infantry, so it overtook them just before infantry reach optimal range to. Good voice commands to go with the set points will work much better then just setting points. Key word good commands.
A tank crew is almost a second squad if fully manned, maybe squad leader should be in tank, not driving, to give commands without getting shoot while in map screen? This could get whole squad more wp by having orders updated faster. |
