The learning curve is SIGNIFICANTLY easier for the simple fact that EVE was a entirely new game genre in the end while dust 514 is a first person shooter as such many people already have the basic play skills to grasp the game, but dust 514 has a rather significantly higher skill cap, people who are good FPS are going to terrorize the rest of people in dust514 while in EVE you could be any old fool and still be able to participate in a fleet op and be useful.
Otherwise as for if we went with "Never played a video game in their life" skill this is going to be pretty rough on them, it's very competive and team focused and the UI is... less then friendly xD I expect it to improve with time but simply stated someone who just picks this up for the first experiment isn't going to have a amazingly fun time. CCP should invest some time into "PVE content" of similar sort for people... who have never played FPS before, because that is basically what dust514 is about, how do we get the whole market interested and consequently wanting to play EVE online as well. |

It's not even close, This game is really accessible at the moment for people who just want to run around shooting ****.
It may get more complex later when corps are in and people start setting specific roles for individuals in a battle but if you're not in a corp it's going really going to be an issue i think.
Also, EVE has less of a character spec learning curve and more of an overall game learning cliff. I've been playing EVE for a few years with a major, major alliance, tools and information on anything and its still way more than i can take in. |
