I see the controls to invert the vertical camera controls, but I would like an invert for the horizontal camera. The default controls are backwards from what feels comfortable to me. |

It's not actually that unheard of, although it is less liked in shooters. It comes from the idea that you are not moving yourself but you are actually moving a camera.
In a third person situation, if you want to look right the "camera" must move left (since it's focus usually stays on you), and vice versa. The same goes for up and down.
Myself, in any non shooter I always set the camera to what most of the world would call "double inverted" if the option is available. That is why I would like the options for inverted x and y for both first person and third person as four separate options:
Invert first person X? Invert first person Y? Invert third person X? Invert third person Y?
Many will not use the inverted X in either situation but some will use it. Me: No, Yes, Yes, Yes. |

What I wish I could do is look left and right with the right stick instead of the left. Having to use the left stick to look left and right makes this seem unplayable to me. Am I missing something? Can I change this? If not, this might be a dealbreaker for me. |

Huh?
Are you sure you're playing DUST and not something else?
In DUST the right stick controls the camera/looking. |

Left stick ONLY controls movement. Right stick ONLY controls aiming.
That's been the industry standard for console shooters pretty much as long as dual analogs have been around. |

makes sense I guess. I invert my Y axis like you would be flying a plane
