1G across the galaxy seems too unrealistic for me... And since New Eden's temperate planets all have different radii and masses (hence different values for gravitational pull), it would make sense for gravity to vary across different planets. Aside from being able to jump higher (or hardly being able to jump at all!), some planets could have G values that do not permit, for example, dropship usage, since their lift cannot counter the extreme gravity. In the low-gravity worlds, you'll be looking at soldiers who can perform 10-metre leaps and Onikumas that can leap off vast canyons and land at the other side. Projectiles will have a greater effective range, and soldiers will possibly be able to carry more ammo.
Although the big gravity variations may be a little harder to implement, variations of +/- 0.5G should be pretty easy, and within the capacity of the graphics engine (the greater variations would require more tampering with other aspects of the game to keep some sort of reality in place :P).
In addition, low-G worlds could be designed to be more open, with taller structures and greater gaps, to make better use of the low-G.
I'm not asking for those completely unrealistic Counter Strike maps where you'd be able to perform a 50-metre jump, just for some slight variation that can not only make things more interesting and unpredictable, but also more realistic, as well as open up new possibilities for new tactics!

Yes :)
Although I doubt they'll do it before release since it would really need new maps to take advantage of it and they already have a lot to do... |
