I wonder that too. I'm personally wondering about a lot of alogorithims and equations that CCP is running under the hood too. Though it would be nice to know exactly how and what dictates what in the algorithim pertaining to salvage. I see threads and postings of people obtaining proto tech level gear, or even officer and lore character gear too. Personally? I'm lucky if I get anything. I've gotten lucky in weapons I suppose some advanced and standard tech level weapons here or there, but nothing notable or worth while. Oh well. |

Sucks to be you :P I got plenty of proto suits and tank turrets  I think it is just random because I have had times where I get nanohives and others where I get officer stuff etc. |

Indeed. I would not mind salvaging myself some proto tech level gear or equipment. Even something more notable such as officer, or lore tech. As for whether it is random or not? I am unsure. CCP would have divulge what is under the hood first. |

Salvage is totally pointless. It could be some part of the battle. Role of salvagers with specialized drones. Once I received tank as salvage! From where I ask? CCP try to give meaning to this part of game. I should be fun to wander around battlefield with drones and salvage corpses and vechicles under fire  |

Maybe the plan is for it to be a salvage of the stuff the enemy team brought to the fight. It seems pretty likely that that is their end-goal, and they're implementing it in phases. |

I believe you get some chance to salvage your own lost loot plus a chance for more exotic items. |

5 proto scout suits last game, first big salvage this patch.
I didn't do much, just playing with sniping. I sniped a guy out of his dropship gun spot up on a tower, but I'm pretty sure the game couldn't recognize the beauty of it. ;) |

random, but things affect odds. Killing vehicles makes you get more vehicle stuff it seems. |

I think they send drones after they flip a kill switch to take apart everything on the battlefield because it's faster than regrouping mercenaries or something along the lines, it said on the first Dust fiction were the guy was trying to kill the drones before they salvaged the LAV. |
