I believe the current squad system is not very effective for teamwork. It lacks something and I just can't figure it out entirely. I seem to be putting out orders to rally or take an objective but 98.9% of the time no one in my squad follows them. Voice comm or waypointing. It just seems like everyone else wants to do their thing the majority of the time.
One thing that pops in my mind is encouraging my squad mates to follow orders by having a squad system that enables everyone to receive extra sp/wp upon completion of the objective or by having everyone rally up at a certain area. You get the drift? Not everyone will follow but to those who do, chi-ching... extra isk/sp/wp.
I would also like to see more open slots or just be able to group 3-4 squads together to go in at once.
Any other ideas u guys have in mind? |

I'd kind of like a squad spawn system, I think. Maybe the squad leader could make use of a special type of equipment which allows people to spawn off of him, like a mobile, unlimited drop uplink? It would go a long way to keeping squad cohesion, as right now even with crazy militia nanite injectors, a headshot or a grenade will break up your squad very easily. And then you have to try to manage to form up again.
Also, maybe some kind of squad leader benefits that apply to people in their radius? So you equip an item in your high power slot as a squad leader, and that gives a 5% bonus to shields to everyone in close proximity? Definitely a UI indication to let people know if their squad leader is conferring a benefit to them as well.
Otherwise, more UI stuff, definitely. Special indicator in the UI to point people toward their squad leader? Better indications about the distance and status of your squad mates? Some subtle, extra UI stuff can help people remember that those green hats floating around are actually their squad.
But yeah, in general making it beneficial in a real way to stick together will help compel people to work as a team. |

yeah I totally agree with this. One thing i've noticed is that a lot of the times my squad is all over the place. Would be an awesome feature! |

- SC(Squad Commander) should have different icon then squad members, or just a different color of it. - Squad members that are next to a SC should always get bonus for killing, assist, capture etc. not the same as for individual orders, minimal one 10-15% wp extra. - Squad members should get notification when someone from the squad drop a nanohive or drop-uplinks. On HUD icon that indicates position of equipment should aper( just to show members where this equipment is, and just for 5-10 sec to reduce "icon noise"). - Icon on minimap should be smaller, to show in more precision way what do they present. - Some indicator for SC that show how many squad points he need for next Orbital Bombardment. |

Accomplishing squad objectives/related objectives already gives a ton of bonus Contribution, which translates directly to SP. For instance, if your squad leader issues the order to defend a Supply Depot and you kill an enemy while nearby that depot, you get 50% more Contribution points than normal. 75 instead of 50. Same goes for putting a Drop Uplink nearby - whenever someone uses it you get 37 instead of the normal 25 Contribution.

I definitely think there should be some kind of leadership bonus that radiates from squad leaders. In EVE fleets can get bonuses from pilots trained and equipped for such things, so why not in DUST as well? It could go a long way to help define purpose on the battlefield as well. I have some examples...
1. Hacker (+1% hacking speed per level to any squad members in range) 2. Command and Control (+1% WP earned per level while in range of squad leader) 3. Supply lines (2% faster deployment speed for vehicles/installations while within range)
There could be many more and those are the ones off the top of my head. Pretty decent incentive to train for the role, follow your leaders, and work TOGETHER!
That being said, there really is no replacement for a headset and good communication... |

I too would like to see squad command auras-and I assume we'll most likely see that manifest in some relation to command drosuits when they are put in.
I'm suprised they didnt make a squad command skill that was required to create/lead squads and then have bonus skills and effects accompanying it. |

(this is something i posted in the idea section but i will delve deeper into that squad ideology)
Squad cohesion
I love this idea of Squads and yes your Commander should pop out to us and yes we should all buy Mics and enjoy the game that much more but in all reality we have FPS players from all walks of life and we have to understand not everyone is going to go balls deep into a game or even a beta! So they need to solve many problems while encompassing many players from different play levels!
i am all a 110% for having my Squad leader pop out to me or myself pop out to other individuals and also would like to interject maybe bulking up the seats in the squad a tad? 4 is small but works but i believe its like 16 players a side so its hard to get a good distribution because I would like to see 5-7/squad, prefer odd numbers. Back on track the cohesiveness is based on proximity to the squad and the squad leader itself, in which by you would gain a passive bonus to what ever skills are leveled for the particular squad abilities. Examples are like but not limited to: faster reloading or greater passive regeneration of shields ect. Those examples are easy to show with the idea, but can get complex when dealing with the ability for dropsuit load outs to have choices on dumping SP into chosen Cohesion abilities that aid the whole entire squad. so maybe only the Squad leaders Cohesion skills will take presidents? not each individuals? . Another thing is going in and out of the squad, it should not be fair that you can just leave that squad's vicinity and still get them passive adjacent perks! its not really flavorful so I would inject something like you would have to "re-gain" your cohesiveness by like adding the current members in hacking/fire support ect being in close proximity for X amount of time or listing to a command for taking or aiding in taking a strategic point. It would be like a level you reach to re gain that cohesion that would be something visible on the HUD like a scale from like 1-100 and how the passive abilities effect you is based on how well your cohesion is with the squad. The vice is that if you're squad starts to get demolished by reds your cohesiveness will drop and could force you to disband and work solo until you can "re-gain" cohesion, so really YOU have to put your best foot forward, Also with squad born tactics are so much better then running in gun-ho and get crushed by some REDs having well balance squad with mics and tactics is actually extremely fun and a good way to enjoy the game and i think its going to move into that direction when we see the ribbon cut and we go live from testing! but from the former mention this is all a idea and could of already been mention previous post ect this is just something I thought of with a cool name or at least i think "Squad Cohesion"

I think a squad reward system would be a good idea. Right now if people take an objective you have to physically Hack the objective to gain any points. This means you regularly get 3-4 people hacking the same objective a perfect opertunity to explode a number or enemies or be exploaded by the enemy. This i feel is simply because to get reward for taking an objective you have to hack. I purpose that everyone in a radius of the objective should get credit for taking it that way 1 guy can hack and the rest of the tem could keep an eye out for enemies.
Expanding on this like what happens in vehicle. everyone from teh squad in the vacinity of any points score should recieve a small amount of those points for helping. the kill you just got may not have happened if the squad member watching your back wasnt there allowing an enemy to sneak up and kill you first.
If everyone got credit for things they helped with for be being part of the "Team" not necessarily causing dmg it would go a long way toward getting people to work together. |
