I find that this patch not only is the mouse unplayable but i thought we could bind keys when it was active and i can not. The speed of the mouse is UNPLAYABLE at current speeds turned all the way up. Also I feel like the controller speed is way too slow as well. Anyone have insight on why it is so slow? or confirm that its not just my Naga mouse. |

It's not slow your maximum turn rate is just capped at a certain point, if your really bothered by this use a scout suit. |

KBM is one of the few things done right and well this patch also, you can overcome the rather slow turn speed by moving your mouse at a relatively slow speed; there's a point where moving your reticle in a circle too fast is interpreted by the game as you trying to turn. give it a shot some time, just turn in one directly slowly increasing your mouse movement speed. at some point your turning will abruptly slow, that's the cutoff point.
but even so, this limits kbm users to compete with controller users on relatively even grounds. i think it's very well done. |

someone stated in other post if you wanna go KBM go long range and dont brawl.. sounds like a pretty decent balance IMO.. we dont want you uber KBM users having full advantage over everyone else
and before anyone accuses me of being a console kiddy I play MMOFPSes on the PC that would make you crap your pants (WWIIOL, Face of Mankind)
if you'd actually do a search there's like a 100 of these threads u could've just necroed
and excuse my saltiness, it's still early for me I haven't had my "baby" bottle yet.. and pist off about 4 man squads
And face of mankind sux especially when some GM magically appears and tells you you have to change your name to something more RPish... dont play that trash. |

this is true, kbm is more than capable of brawling, but it's kinda tricky and easy to screw up. it's great for assault rifle play though

Haven't tried the KB/M personally but what they said..
Turn speed is part of class balance, and they said from the start that kb/m would not be implemented until they had it balanced vs controllers. It was never meant to be a way to get around class based turn speed limits. You still have a precision advantage, I could see it being very good for sniping. |

It needs to either be a control option for all matches or not in the game at all, or else the real "sov" planet battles will be "use kb/m or gtfo." And no, everyone having the "option" to use kb/m does not mean it should allow you to turn as fast as you want and make the controller useless for anyone who wants to win. |

Just curious if anyone has tried changing their key board and mouse settings in the XMB menu under system settings? There are different settings for mouse speed and wondering if anyone has turned that all the way up to maximum? |

I've never heard or read anything saying they'd make separate "rooms", been plenty of people asking for it, why not make separate rooms for people in squads and for people with mics, in fact if we all played in our own room by ourselves perhaps people wouldn't complain so much, you could have them design your very own DUST just for you !
I started out using the pad and have connected a KB/M to try, there is nothing wrong with it, Yes it could do with the sensitivity turning up a bit, but then so could the pad and as far as I know, neither are working right now, so everyone is complaining this build is "too slow".
The only thing missing from the KB/M integration is some key assignments for triangle to spawn at default (random) and a means to control the map for squad orders, zooming, etc. The ability to map the keys where you want them would be nice as I'm not a fan of X to throw grenades or when really caps lock for weapon switch, but at least the scope on right mouse button seems to be working tonight and the weapon switch hinges off the scroll wheel works now too.
All in I think the KB/M is fairly well balanced against the pad providing a preference alternative, rather than a further expense advantage over those that don't have access to KB/M. |

David Reid mentioned it in an interview about Precursor. Don't know if they went anywhere with that idea. Seemed kind of an iffy response to concerns over KBM, to suggest, "Well, just play with DS3 users." since EVE Universe from what I understand is "Everyone together all the time." Too lazy to dig up the link to that interview though. |

The "seperate rooms" deal concerns hisec, which filters people between kb/m and controller.
Not like it matters, since in Nulsec and lowsec will be unfiltered, and it's where KB/M would cause the most problems. |

No matter how fast I move my mouse, it will never be as fast as someone tilting the R stick all the way. Whenever I jump in turrets, I always end up using my controller for rough adjustment and my mouse for fine aiming (try it - it's nice). I can't say how much faster it is, so try it for yourself. Oh, and I have my controller sensitivity only set to 80 while my mouse is set to 100. |

holy ****! how do you hit anything? sensitivity that high must be a nightmare to get on target. anything over zero sensitivity on the mouse and i start overshooting targets
also, kbm is fine with the shotgun (arguably the most brawl-y weapon), i just finished a game to 22/5 |

I've played the Heavy, Assault, and Scout default builds since this build launched. All I can say about the turn speeds, is that they are so minutely different, you might as well just play a heavy if you don't care about running fast.

Not like it matters, since in Nulsec and lowsec will be unfiltered, and it's where KB/M would cause the most problems. They never said there would be "separate rooms", they said that matchmaking would match people based on financial resources, skills, and control scheme. This could mean a couple things.
#1 It could mean that someone with KBM will rarely be put in a game with DS3 users, in order to insure no advantages being used.
#2 It could mean that matchmaking will deliberately place teams with a majority of KBM users against teams with a majority of DS3 users to test balance.
Considering that we are in a beta, and the whole point is to test balance and function, #2 is the more likely option. |
