I feel the forge guns are to effective against infantry, IV been in a couple of matches and was killed multiple times at snipers range by them, These are tank buster weapons not sniper rifles.. In my opinion range and or spla sh damage should be lowered.
What are your thoughts on this weapon people of the forum?

i'm proud of everyone that can snipe with a forge gun
Slash damage was already nerfed before, I haven't found any problem with them in the current build. |

I've done a lot of forge gunning. They are effective against infantry but only if the infantry is very close or not moving. I've killed my share of long range targets but usually only if they're stationary. I think they're fine because you only get 16 rounds and you'll waste most of those if you focus on infantry. |

Spartan, range on the forge has already been reduced considerably and probably too much. I think that what we need is a compromise: make the range close to what is was before, but make it to where the splash damage goes away after it goes past the current optimal range.
Also, what would you define as "sniper's range?" Right now it becomes dicey hitting small targets past 75 to 100m. |

theres that and any damage your dropsuit takes while charging a shot throws off your aim. i just got my forge back so i dont have much of an opinion yet but if its crazy nerfed ill be back. |

BS a forge gun cant even scratch a tank at long range anymore. |

if a forge actually hits me from a distance, my helmet is off to him. Their range needs to be increased. only a heavy suit can use them, so that person is in no position to be chasing a vehicle down, which is why the forge needs its range... well that and it takes much too long to charge up a shot for getting in close and acting like a kamikaze. |

My thoughts are , I want which ever version they are using that can kill people 'at sniping ranges' my assault rifle can shoot further than my forge. |

I don't think I've ever been able to hit anything with a forge gun that was moving. It has dramatic drawbacks. Granted, I probably played 20 minutes with a forge gun in the last build, but that was more than enough to learn it's no sniper rifle. Its splash isn't big enough to kill more than one person at a time anyway (1.5m), and its splash damage isn't enough to one-shot anything but a scout (250hp, if I recall correctly, even for the most advanced version). If you wanted to snipe, why wouldn't you use a sniper rifle? No charge time, shorter reload time, greater precision, more ammo, better scope, etc.
If you're sniping infantry with a forge gun, you are coming at it with some serious skill. And I don't mean skill you can buy with SP. For the rest of us, the forge gun needs to do what it's supposed to do: kill tanks. Nerfing it the way you suggest is just going to make it even more useless. |

The forgegun is a modified mining tool. The idea is to walk through rocks and cut a path at a rather close range to a mountain side. Thus the tool doesn't have to be accurate at range as miner are typically pretty close to their intended target... a mountain side. It is not going to be accurate from a far distance as it was never meant for combat. It has since been modified for combat, but still retains its core features of close range, inaccurate, and totally devastating to anything it hits.
It is not fun to be sniped by 3 forgegun users while you sit in a tank 200m+ away. But it is fun to ambush a tank as it rolls by a control choke point. Stupid tanks should not fall for a forgegun trap. |

You cant say its Over Powered unless you try it out, It will at top bring two or three kills if your uber lucky before your out of ammo at sniper range. Any sniper can do 2x that. And you need a full 2.5 sec to fire. Try it out see what you think about it. If the Forge Gun is OP then AR is to. |

Thats 2/3 of sniper range; havent had trouble with forge gun except the lack of range now. |

Is this why there are a couple weirdos running around with swarm launchers shooting infantry, too? Forge guns are incredibly good anti-vehicle weapons. Why should forge guns get to be good at killing infantry as well as vehicles, while swarm launchers get left out? |

Forge guns should get more range and do more damage the farther the attack flies. Thus giving it a great anti air anti tank role. That can shine at long range.
In fact if you could please give a secondary mode to the forge gun? One where you press triangle to change stance. While down heavy weapons can have access to a scope at the cost of all movement while in scope. This would justify a Sig radius change so they do 350 to dropsuits and full damage to tanks and such. Like long range anti buildings and vechical troopers in the hills. You can also hold your charge and move while not aiming. meaning only the normal forgery would get this on the move charge to quick scope tanks.
Oh and to be clear. Forge guns would do 1450 at full range. And 900 close up. Meaning forge guns would be unable to take put people close up but still deal good damage to tanks and effective sniper dampening. |
