Getting in to the new build though it's a whole new learning curve. Several things I've noticed ...
1. The options in the Character menu all return you to you station quarters when you press circle to back out of them rather than returning you to the neocom.
2. Just exited the neocom whilst driving a HAV and I was seemingly below the terrain level and destroyed shortly after, though I think this was in the patch notes.
3. Keyboard and mouse needs some work, remapping would be nice and ability to control the map and right mouse button didn't bring up zoom in the vehicle, I think it was 'E' after a bit of searching.
4. The Soma is listed in the militia gear section of the market, however it is not a bpo like the other militia gear, this should be moved to the HAV section with the other vehicles, maybe under a Basic heading before the Standard ones.
5. Turret Upgrades modules have no indicator of how much damage increase they provide anywhere in the show info window.
6. Weapon switching and vehicle module activation UI is still hit and miss, could this not be solved simply by making it more like the fittings window it is presumably made to resemble. Pressing R2 brings it up and releasing R2 selects the currently selected as it does now, but using the stick to hold on your selection is what makes it hit and miss, simply default to the first one and if you want to select something else move the stick in that direction but you can then return to center and that will stay highlighted as it does in fittings window. This way if you want your main weapon, or first module in a vehicle you just press and release R2, if you want something else you flick in that direction, check it's selected the right one and release R2 when you're happy the module / weapon you want is highlighted. To cancel selection you could flick down to a big red X or circle with a line through it.
7. Squad creation is also very clunky, having to press X to enter the friends list then selecting friends and O to exit then down to OK and X again to select OK. Having your friends list in full at the top, maybe still 9 long as it is now, but go 2 wide and scroll to the right for more, then scrolling down to the bottom could drop you straight on to the OK button without having to enter the friends list and exit it again.
8. Fittings restocking isn't too clever, many have already mentioned, it actually worked better the other way round where you restacked TO a number rather than restocking BY a number, this way you have to go in to market and individually buy 50 of each of the other items to balance with the 50 items you received when you created a character, otherwise those 50 will never get used, you'll restock 5 suits and have 55 which will return to 50 when the suit becomes invalid. Can't think of an easier way to do this other than how it worked before, at least that way you were only buying what was needed to have that many suits to use, you just had to be aware if another fitting shared some modules it would affect how many of this one you had. Perhaps when a module is shared with multiple fittings, you could get a pop up saying this or these are shared with this fitting, do you want to restock x amount extra, or even just figure it in to the restock so an item that's been stocked to a level for another suit is flagged for that fitting and when you use it on another fitting it realises those are set aside for something else and restocks more for this fitting, could be tricky coding that, but would be great if you could get it to work.
That's it for now, hope some of this helps develop a slick game, keep up the good work, it's really getting there now :-) |
