It seems to handle like a big fat helicopter. All of the thrust seems to be mostly direct straight down so pulling back on the left stick tips the nose up slowing you down. But if you don't manually level it off it'll just start moving backwards. It's tough to fly because of the slow control responses and I often find myself over correcting and then under correcting. I've been flying them when I can afford them and they are a bit more difficult. Especially with the 9.0 earthquake that happens anytime you tap something. |

I usually aim for the target to land (landing is a different story), as I pass over it , I do a 180 and it slows you down drastically - but be careful cause sometimes it slows you down way to much and then you got to fight to keep from losing the dropship. But it does work if your not to low to the ground. And I can't say that this is good advice, but it works better than anything else since we don't have air brakes or breaking thrusters. |

I was about to say that!
But from what little I did fly (till I had crashed my remaining drop ships before the reset) one way were to pull the nose up, and then push the ascent button. But be careful, chances are you'll go in a loop instead, and then crash.
I've suggested it before. We really need a "Flight Academy" and "Shooting gallery" simulator, where people can train vehicle control, and shooting free of charge (or for a few Aurum a day). |

Dropships don't have a means of stopping easily, which is sad, and I'd say that if CCP don't mount a main gun on them (which I hope they won't, other flying vehicles are supposed to become available for that), we have the fire button R1 CCP could assign for breaking... |

Just thought of a idea. why not put nanofibres chassis mods on your low slots? maybe it would reduce your mass issue enough that you can land/take of properly? |

Just use millitia gear only, you can get like 50k minimum a match + whatever damage you cause. |

Leave my dropship guns out of this Dewie - that's another thread - LOL Another idea is "Lets all call Goodyear and find out how they slow down to land their blimp." Since basically that's what we are trying to fly. |

The dropships will probably never have pilot operated guns, but gunships and other aircraft may, so I doubt they'll use the R1 button for that.
And my militia dropship fit costs about 270k. So far every time I try to use it I get the no take off bug. :'( |

i finally got my hands on a dropship today, and i found myself surprised how easy and fun it was to fly,
and for the question on how to slow down you pull up your nose and level out,
i found myself being able to hover over the enemy with my gunner shooting missiles down like the last build, and even better i flew a circle with my ship on its side giving my gunner some great shots,
then of course i got shot down by swarms but damn, i much prefer the controls now to how they were, i think we are gonna see some good pilots kicking ass in no time |

I did this in my mega shield tanked Eryx before the reset, and it wasn't so dramatically better that I'd give up that extra HP as buffer. |

I confirmed nanos or plates dont work at all before the wipe, both brick and feather had no marked improvment or degregation in flgiht performance. |
