CCP. In order to alleviate our fears, I think it is about time you start being more forthcoming with the intended mechanics about player industry.
- Which items are to be player produced, and which are not.
- Will the player market be global (for instance like in World of Warcraft) or localized like in EVE Online?
- How will EVE players seed the Dust market,
- Will EVE trading characters be able to access the Dust market?

This was apparently in some recent EVE patch notes. I think it's safe to assume that DUST merc gear will be made by EVE players, with the likely exception of aurum-only equipment. |

It is the hunch that AUR items won't be player produced I'm fearing. |

I have that fear too but maybe we will be lucky and CCP will finally institute a system into EVE that allows for AuR to be injected into the game instead of that ridiculous "BUY EXPENSIVE CLOTHING" idea. |

Eve is a little different, and CCP will never get away with introducing AUR items that have any strategic or tactical benefits. At all.
To be honest, the majority of the blow-out we had when they introduced the NeX store, weren't just about the prices (virtual clothing costing about as much as real life fashion items), but silence. Silence and uncertainty. CCP dumped this on us with "look at this great idea", then nothing, causing widespread panic and fear that CCP were about to introduce "Gold Ammo". They made a number of other mistakes in that case, but still, the problem were no feedback from CCP upon queries.
EVE is different because it is already a subscription game, and not really a cheap one. And I am conceding that CCP need to make money off Dust, somehow, I just think they are going at it the worst possible way: By alienating old players, and appearing to break old promises.

The aur stuff so far won't make it pay to win, especially with people selling aur items to get isk. The uvt worried me till it was clarified, as is I wouldn't spend 900isk let alone 900aur. Uvt doesn't seem that useful, hope they sell some. I'll buy the boosters and standard bpo, they shouldn't add any higher level bpo though. That would remove the penalty for death. Skill spikes and clusters may be worth buying and not be pay to win, waiting to see them. |

While EVE players are going to be manufacturing DUST gear, I'm hoping that they also allow DUST players to set up to manufacture our own gear. |

This is the biggest thing. Everything that is AUR-only will, by definition, be available for ISK in-game. Players who choose not to pay for anything with real money will be able to purchase items from players who have chosen to use real money.
This is the system CCP uses for their own subscription services in EVE, where you can chose to buy PLEX in-game for ISK instead of paying with real money. There's no guarantee AUR items will be cheap, but they will be available.

I never understood the PLEX thing, especially the number of them on the market. Seemed like a lot of outlay (-ú15) for not that much reward (500mil ISK). However AUR items I'm starting to feel will be p2w. It's due to TE limitations being imposed on our suits. Militia/standard games, AUR gear makes you pretty much advanced lvl. I know it'll all be on the player market, but I think demand will out strip supply. Mostly because the person sellin AUR items, will probably be using them too. That'll get expensive. |
