First off, I'm aware that they are militia vehicles, and what that entails. But I'm also aware that even a Militia vehicle now cost nearly as much as a medium for marauder in the previous build.
Yet an AV grenade instapops an LAV, and quite possibly severely damages a Soma or Sica. The disparity is just too great to be ignored. It costs next to nothing to get AV grenades, skill wise or the grenades themselves. And you can't really miss unless you throw them in the opposite direction.
The Forge Gun and I guess Swarm Launcher as well. Even the militia starter fit of a SL usually OHK the Baloch starter fit LAV. And does so over vast distances. I've sighted one up, and only half a minute later get the vehicle kill notification, because it took the grenades that long to catch up. The Breach FG does the same, and it barely takes two FG shots to kill the Soma/Sica starter tanks.
The problem here is not so much that an FG can easily kill tanks, I assume the non militia ones are marginally harder to kill. The problem is that people wanting to go for vehicle play, have to waste an enormous amount of ISK and SP for NON vehicle skills, before we can specialize in the skills we really want, at which time all the non vehicle players will have higher tier fits that will kill the tanks just as easily. The problem is also one of cost. Even at militia level, the FG fit is barely a tenth of the cost of a militia tank...
CCP, if you intend this game to be varied beyond cheep LAV's and infantry roaming around on foot, something needs to change. I am afraid you took the complaints about FREE militia vehicles and applied them to everything.
CCP. Dust is no longer FUN. At least if you don't already love the running, strafing, bunnyhopping, "gun game" |

In which way is this comment helpful?
I'm using the BETA forum to point out a potential problem with the BETA. so CCP might take actions before we come OUT of BETA. |

Thanks. And more are coming. All previous complaints are really new again. With a new build to report on :P And it's not quite 10000000 threads, I only have 42 pages in my message log. :) |

I've got to admit it was hard... But I have to disagree with the OP. I freely admit I'm still in a Soma, but all the modules on it are regular to prototype.
- 14% DCU - 18% Damage Reduction - 18% Damage Reduction - 135 DMG Armor Repair - 180mm Armor Plate (For 5395 armor) - Small Missile Turret (420 DMG) - Small Missile Turret (420 DMG) - Large Railgun (1450 DMG)
It wasn't easy getting through the initial portion but I can now make the ISK to buy one of these every three matches, and its got enough tank to survive most assaults if I play VERY conservatively. Further its a guaranteed 60,000 SP per match until you reach the SP reduction cap...
The initial build up? Well the problem is people spend too much time worrying about gank and not enough about tank... Get it early get it fast, and play VERY defensively... Blow up the vehicle deployment dropships their gold in this game, and two or so of those is a guaranteed 60,000 SP... Yes it takes awhile to earn the ISK at first, and yes, losing your tank sets you back A LOT. But it shouldn't be easy, and it keeps all but the most dedicated tank drivers from persueing the goal, which is a good thing.
Right now seeing a tank driver is rare, and when you do, they are a challenge at the least, and the maps aren't crawling with AT because of that fact... Tanks feel more like 'bosses' which is what they are supposed to be, a challenge worthy of team effort, and they aren't as cavalier because tank drivers value their tanks WAY too much to go rambo in it and be stupid, so even when they are on a team, they are far from game deciders, rather they provide area control and security and sit primarily in already occupied territory...
You might see a tank driver push and assault, but only with support, which is what you expect to see, and that is an unstoppable force to be reckoned with, but a tank + teamwork should be just that.
Frankly what I'm getting at is I think they finally got tank balance right. And I immensely enjoy it and feel HUGELY set back when I lose one of these tanks as I should.
Now Dropships on the other hand... They got a VERY raw deal indeed... |

You run into the two guys running in Sagaris? One with a Remote rep and the other to slaughter anything that moves? I have a few times and they're practically IMPOSSIBLE to kill due to not being able to get near enough with AV to hit the repper one. Got to kill the Repper first due to the fixing it provides the first but can't because the first will kill your butt, or the 6 snipers that accompany them do. |
