you have to wait for the sway to stop before you shoot... plus there is a skill for that... |

Also in the new build increase controller sensitivity to reduce dead zone, also going into a crouch (triangle button) will steady you. |

Standing still will reduce the sway to a manageable level at mid range, crouching with triangle and staying still will remove it entirely in a couple of seconds.
A headshot will kill pretty much anything if it connects. If you spot a hostile sniper and it does not look like he's pointing his rifle at you, take the time to precisely aim a headshot. You don't want to risk him surviving with a sliver of health and running for cover.
Beyond that, I'm still not sure about the mechanics. Shooting at a runner feels more like a roll of the dice than anything else. I've aimed slightly ahead of guys and landed shots when I miss aiming directly at them and vice versa, failed to hit guys standing completely still out in the open after aiming at them with a stable scope for several seconds, and all sorts of other fun bull****. I still don't know what the max range is, and I don't know whether it's a hitscan or projectile weapon.
Would love if someone with more experience sniping could clear some of that up |

Hitting anything in this build with a sniper seems harder but that may just be because you can see farther and therefore are actually trying to hit harder shots.
Hitting is moving target is a crap shoot as mentioned.
Range seems to be just about infinite(I have hit enemies from across the map on several maps with the militia sniper in this build). |

I had a lucky kill just before, couldnt see target only his arrow-waay across the map, aimed juuust below that to scare him and got the 50 point kill :).
other times as said above its almost impossible to hit the side of a barn.
it may be my imagination, but it seems that since this build hit, i've had to pre-emt a lot more, leading targets, or "intuitively" aiming to the side of a static target....... ...........

Hold the sticks lightly, lower sensitivity drastically (really helps), crouch, wait for your target to run out of stamina(when he/she is sprinting), focus on actually hitting the dropsuit (seems obvious, but is the source of most whining about hit detection), and most importantly try to do the job in one shot: use the highest damage sniper rifle you can get, damage upgrades, train damage enhancing skills, and AIM FOR THE HEAD! If you miss the first shot you may not get another chance, on account of the player running around like a headless chicken. Another good way to one-shot is when you have an option of players to shoot go for the player with the least ammount of health. Most importantly, don't rush. Hope this helps |

They're both the same person if you didn't already know
Also to help you out a little Makledon one thing that helps me to snipe people while standing is to strafe while in ads. It helps you line up shots that require smaller adjustments and to me it seems to reduce some of the sway. |

also when sniping you need to work with the terrain.
use that small shallow dip to get low and duck behind, edge up slow and take your shot. de-camp fairly often, once a good fc gets wind of snipers you become Primary, and you will become the hunted not the hunter.
use buildings to cover your movements, hills to get a perch above the fight and an eye on the battlefield.
oh and the biggest tip, get your dropsuit sig down and your sensor skills up. i either die to another sniper, or my stupidness not watching the radar and having a red walk up and pop me off. i have also done the same stood beside enemy sniper and headshot from 3m away. because he was way to interested in his scope view and not that flashy red dot on the radar |

WRONG you hit two 2 quick consecutive shots to torso. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO GET A MONEY SHOT if you can kill with two assured hits, especially if your aiming skills suck or failing that creep closer and aim again.
You see scope no longer sways after firing so you can shoot in a rapid succession which pretty much kills any sniper that is currently aiming since it takes about a second to move after scoping. As for running targets; don't try to hit if they are running sideways shoot moving targets only if they move in direct firing line or track and shoot once they stop thinking they're safe or get stuck on climbing a hill or stop to hack something ...
Also concentrate on scanning lone wolves on top of hills, nooks and crannies as those are 9/10 enemy snipers looking for a kill. situational awareness is the key to being a good sniper and if you get a kill or several ans see enemy moving towards you start running because they are gunning for you; no body likes being killed by a same sniper twice or thrice in a row. |

Also don't forget to lead moving targets based on their speed. Heavies are good for practice, they're slow, wide, and good practice for hitting the same target over again. |

Scope no longer sways after firing??? Dunno what gun you're using but that Militia sniper rifle kicks like a mule after each round, I'm lucky to get off a second shot at the same target if the first didn't bring them down. |

The gun KICKS with each shot, but sway doesn't come back after each shot (it used to), so you don't have to pause and wait for that as well after a shot. |
