The eve players are tearing up about dust 514 bieng ps3-only and they laugh about how it will fail on ps3 and go to pc.I guess they dont know that its going to ps4 also.Hey maybe when ps4 gets dust 514 there can be cross-platform.Then again that would cannibalize the eve fanbase.I can tell you 1 thing and that is that it will defianitly not fail. Its a really fun game and is addicting as nicotine. |

I am a veteran EVE player and I enjoy Dust big time, so I think other EVE players will do to. Dust needs to rump up the social and drama side of the game, but i think for now it's right that the action part of the game is developed well. However I think the big fun will come when large eve alliances get involved. I wonder who else could provision multi-billion isk war barges, sure not Dust players or corps, at least not for a long time. The EVE online drama must be somehow relayed down to Dust players and make them part of what's going on above their heads. |

I like the fact that eve players think they can just walk over dust players and havent figured out that we can shoot back.

I've had concerns for awhile now about DUST being a PS3 exclusive. Xbox 360 players have always been, in my opinion, the more avid FPS players (Halo, Borderlands, etc.) but I'm heartened by the turnout for the beta. I'm not surprised EVE players poke fun at DUST though; the two games might be connected but are inherently different. In fact if anything I'm shocked so many EVE players are willing to even give DUST a second look considering the difference in pace and style. I suppose that says something about the devotion EVE players have for the brand; they'll talk crap all day long in the forums but at the end of the day they're in there with us too.
Also when DUST does go live I think the teasing will stop the moment PI installations begin exploding across the galaxy |

I'm exclusively logistics in EVE, and I think this game will be fabulous. EVE is for sure different and more forme, but DUST 514 has so much potential. |

I dont know why you people think there will be this big seperation of Dust players and EvE players.

There will be EvE led groups with Dust armies, in the same corp, or alliance. There will be Dust led Groups with EvE fleets, in the same corp, or alliance.
There will be EvE only groups hiring Dust players. There will be Dust only group hiring EvE players.
DUST514 players can survive in DUST54 building their own planets up from scratch and take resources for themselves, and no one else, not for some EvE players, but for myself, my group, my alliance. |

Most EVE players are extremely jaded. There've been similar threads on virtually every new future released for EVE itself. Don't pay them any mind. |

They don't all have PS3's though so you can kind of appreciate some of the bitterness.

The people crying that it is not on PC are funny. They also do not understand marketing and the gaming industry.
That said not all EVE players are the same. You are just seeing birds of a feather flocking to the forum to cry. |

Those same people were the ones who made threads about how EVE was going to fail and die last year, and the truth is that the whole protest movement really wasn't as much of a threat as all those self important people realize. Yes, CCP did some restructuring and layoffs afterward, but the company was not in danger of going bankrupt like so many of those people like to crow with a sense of pride, as if they should be commended over the idea of holding people's jobs on the line over a game. |

The eveonline forums are not a good representation of the player base. Scratch that, it's a good representation of the pub player base. |

I remember someone asking one of the devs on 514 if it would eventually come to PC, response was something along the lines of they are going to think about it after DUST launches. I'll see if I can find it somewhere. But whatever, as long as I can use my keyboard and mouse that's all that matters. |

To tell you the truth... I don't know if Dust will work in the end. I am only saying this because... assuming that only the eve players are paying us... there is no real value of us to them. What I mean is that they don't need us unless there is something that only we can get for them. The only real use of us in the EvE world is probably protecting their planetary stuff. That means that they are always going to be above us. Of course that cant work in a market senario. So for it to work, dust soldiers need something that only we can bring into the Eve universe and that something needs to be VERY valuable to them. I was thinking of Planetary Jump Drives... what do you guys think? |
