We need a reasonable way to get up on top of stuff. A grappling hook as a sidearm could be use to pull us up on top of buildings while not giving snipers an overwhelming ability to hold the position from counter sttack as the smg or pistol is gone and they have to rely on nades and the sniper rife. |

YES!
How did no one think of this before? By far one of the greatest additions that can be made to this game.

Get a buddy to drop you off with a transport, problem solved... this game is about teamplay, this isnt Gotham City Imposters. Isnt meant to be an arcade game. |

Trolling? Im not trolling this idea is awesome!
How will we do it though? Do we set up some perks maybe and make it a perk? I heard perks are really popular.
Maybe just make it a perm secondary weapon? Upgrade it in the skill books too? I can only imagine at lvl5 Grappling Hook Proficiency i can grapple onto a mountain 3km away or perhaps some Just Cause 2 and attach to a Dropship and hijack it?
Man so many good ideas i need a rest. |

How about the heavy gunner dropping large weapon into a mortar position. As an option. Have different kinds of rounds but only option with heavy gunner. Sounds like battlefeild 3 but whatever. Have a heatseekin round to tAke out armor. Word. Also would be cool if had an option 4 a motion sensor flare of some sort. Advancing on a position would have it perks if you new where all the punks on the roof were. |

I'd rather getting to the tops of buildings be something you need a dropship for. More teamwork and etc. |

The problem is level design. A level designer builds a level based on what the player can do in a game. You can hide behind objects, jump over stuff, sprint, yada yada. None of the levels have them built in a way where you need/should get on top of something you can't otherwise get to.
As such, if a grappling hook were to enter Dust, all the levels would have to be redesigned or they would just be massively exploitable. Example of the latter option below:
Those of you that played before this recent update know of the very exploitable spots on top of the Plateaus map in Skirmish. A player would spawn a transport, then fly to the top of the very big pillars, and then start lobbing rockets down at everyone with infinite range and accuracy. This is an example of a level design exploit that a grappling hook would bring. |
