This is why ive made this thread
EVE ships have role bonuses and also bonuses to do with the skills that they needed to fly that ship, a HAM Drake as skills bonuses to Heavy Assault Missiles, a Noctis can role bonuses for certain mods so it can salavage better, etc etc ect ships in EVE have bonuses for what they do and for what the pilot has done to acquire that ship
So for Heavy dropsuits you have had to learn Amarr dropsuit to 4 for example, your suit bonus for that could something like 2% to Armor recharge rate per level, or like 3% reduction in Forge gun recharge time etc
Essentially our suit is like our ship we can fit it with weapons and mods to help us be better and what we are trying to do so with that in mind should CCP add role bonuses and bonuses for the levels we have had to grind like in EVE for ships? |

I really found this to be missing from the drop suit skills. I trained up for proto suits, but rarely used them. Those 2 million skill points felt wasted. A small bonus I could make use of while running around with an advanced suit would have made those skill points justifiable no matter how poor I am due to dying too often |

I'm sure it will be like this for suits and vehicles when it goes live. Might be that dust test servers can't handle the extra time needed to add in skill bonuses for hit damage calculation for skills as well as module bonuses, then calculate the resistance bonuses of mods, suits and skills without adding lag. |

It's like that because the bonuses are so vastly different between Militia/Standard/Advanced/Prototype.
There's really no reason you should have +25% Shields or some such for having Caldari Assault Dropsuit Operation 5 when you have increased -everything- on the Prototype Dropsuit itself. |

Also, Logistics now have a passive +10% hacking speed. I'd imagine they're going to issue out small bonuses like these to all suits to give them a niche specialization. |

Just being pedantic, but he has worded it in a way as to start a general discussion rather than a feedback or request.
I think more bonuses should be added to DUST and as Jenza said different ones have been discussed in other threads, I've mentioned somewhere that the HAV for one had no reason to train to V and the large turrets had no benefit to training the proficiency skills past 1 where as the handheld weapon skills give a bonus to training them further. I'm not saying these things should become more powerful than they are, just that to achieve the power they have now could require more skill training, technically nerfing them a bit unless you max out the relevant skill. |

I don't think it's too likely that suits will get role bonuses like that.
1) This isn't EVE. EVE is an RPG, it's appropriate to make your character's skill relevant to outcome of a battle. DUST has some RPG elements, but it's a shooter. Implement something like this and older characters will have a huge advantage without having to risk their prototype dropsuits.
2) Part of the reason EVE needed role bonuses rather than simply relying on hardpoints and slot layout was the sheer diversity of ships available. Each faction has something like eight frigates, five cruisers, and three battleships just counting the T1 stuff. The only way to distinguish a ship intended for use for electronic warfare from a ship designed to sport a heavy shield tank was to offer role bonuses. DUST has a fairly linear progression from militia heavy suit to prototype heavy suit. If they're planning on eventually having every faction have their own version of each type of suit role bonuses might be justified. |

Yes this would be great! I wonder what you would give a heavy suit. Quicker armor repair when in proximity to an objective maybe. Since we are primarily designed to hold objectives etc. |

skill based bonuses have been added slowly throughout the beta, I'm 99% sure they expect us to have the same system here as we do in EVE. It would not make much sense otherwise. One of the reasons I'm kicking myself for just training HAV's to 3, no need to go higher, right?
Now I didn't have enough SP to train it to 5 to try out the black ops tank. Just once. |

I think it'd be more along the lines of a reduction in damage from vehicles. |

They do plan on having every faction versions of every dropsuit, I've seen that officially somewhere. |

I worded it as a question
I would prefer it if bonuses were added to dropsuits for certain roles, for me the dropsuit is the ship except on the ground, it has shields/armor and mods fitted to it with weapons like a ship
It would help in specialization even more and help making those which go down that route be better at what they can do and plus it would be available to everyone
I would also like each dropsuit have different roles tho so the if a suit has more shields then bonuses help that and vice versa |

yes, even the basic dropsuit should get better as you level up the skill needed for it. Maybe it is say it right on the skill book
4% sprint speed increase bonus per level for all Scout dropsuits
And one for each. Thus you progress as you level up. There isn't even a reason to do level 2 or 3. As they unlock nothing :/ |

They aren't putting bonuses on everything because they want this game to be less complicated than EVE Online. You might recall that the first vehicle DevBlog described vehicles as having a capacitor that could be drained to stop it's hardeners and weapons from functioning, right? But when we got in, the vehicles had no capacitor, and the modules just activated for one cycle and then went on a cooldown. They did things like that to make the game easier to play. |

I'm ok with dropsuits being simpler than EVE, but I don't get why the vehicles can't be just as sophisticated since we're in the same universe, and EVE players often gravitate to them already.
At least make it so unlock skills give something passive as well. |

The prototype suits would still be better because they have more CPU/PG to fit better weapons.

This is what I was thinking, the suit class would get the bonus, not necessarily an individual suit. Heavy suit might get 3% more armor. Assault suit might get 3% more damage. Scout might get 3% more speed. Something, so your intermediate levels are not wasted.

The way skill bonuses for ships go in EvE:
This is a kronos which is a marauder ie. a T2 battle ship
Gallente Battleship Skill Bonus: 5% bonus to large hybrid weapon damage and 10% bonus to the velocity factor of stasis webifiers per level
Marauder Skill Bonus: 7.5% bonus to repair amount of armor repair systems and 7.5% bonus to large hybrid weapon tracking per level
Role Bonus: 100% bonus to large hybrid weapon damage, 100% bonus to range and velocity of tractor beams
So each T2 ship has base skill bonus, advanced skill bonus and a role bonus
Though T2 ships are a bad example in a way because they require base skill V (as most T2 do) but anyway having those bonuses in DUST as well would make gaining SP more bearable because it means you get better even if you don't spend isk on a new suits or weapons or gear. In EvE a veteran can happily kill any newb if he likes but I don't think DUST's console player base would be ready for that.
And let's remember that we 3 empty levels to grind until you get advanced suits and if the SP accumulation we have now is going to be same in release it's going to take very very a long time to get a proto suit. |
