i've downloaded the new build, but haven't had a chance to play yet. i was wondering what it's like so far? couple of things i've noticed....
1) instant battle... seems like an ok idea if you could choose skirmish or ambush independently... but i've read so far you can't. 2) 0/32.... seen this beside each map. are we up to 16 vs 16 now? or is it still 12 vs 12? 3) lag any better? 4) read some troubling things about hard crashes?? is this common now? 5) separation of skill... apparently you can choose noob, middle, or proto... but i've read you can bring a proto to a noob fight... i had that guessed as soon as i seen it... lol. 6) how long does it take to join a match now with so many options?? it used to be almost instantly (30s or so). 7) salvage? does it work, and what does it do? can you sell it (or anything extra you don't want) back into the market?
finally, will there be anymore updates between now and the 21st, or will we just be wiped?
looking forward to playing soon... saturday night most likely. |

1) indeed, you can't and it takes several instant battles to determine your level. 2) it says x/32 besides the match but in the lobby it says x/12, I'm assuming there's a 12 player minimum and a 16 player maximum 3) slightly worse than last build but nothing gamebreaking (for me at least) 4) didn't have any yet, just the victory/defeat screen soft freeze 5) true 6) It can take up to several minutes if people keep joining and then leaving 7) seems kind of random, you can use it if you have the required skills or you can sell it (not yet, maybe after the wipe or in the next 2 phases of this build but this is pure speculation) |

So, yesterday, unexpectedly but happily, we got the first of several patches that will bring the Precursor build to the Dust closed beta by 21aug
That means we got the first part of the update. The character/skill wipe hasn't happened yet and, not surprisingly, there are multiple technical issues being ironed out with performance and integration.
All that said, the changes look great from my limited exp
Graphics are more detailed, in battle comms (with push to talk) worked well. I did not experience any crossed comms with other team
Draw distance has been markedly expanded. The 'new' maps that I saw had some of the old map elements (communication,biomass,plateau) set into expanded surrounding terrain with modifications of the central elements as well
Not a drop ship pilot but there is a lot of change there as well
I heard repeatedly that the custom squad system was working
There are a lot of new bugs and issues to fix but with parts two & three probably hitting within 48 hrs I expect a LOT more changes to test before (& after 21aug)
