I just noticed this while trying to view the other factions HQ.
You can now select females during character creation.
The sounds elect and visual appearance are still male though.

Your application to become an immortal mercenary prototype has been accepted, and your contract begins today.
Please note that while Mordu's Legion Command is an equal-opportunity employer and welcomes all races and genders into our family with open arms, due to budget limitations the clones you will be possessing are all based on the genetic profile of a Civire male. We assure you that our initial tests have proven that infomorph possession of clones that are a different race or gender from your original body have no short-term consequences or negative effects on combat performance.
However, due to the nature of your contract you will be occupying said generic clone body outside of battle as well.
Long-term psychological effects have not yet been evaluated for persons who were not born Civire males. A brief pamphlet on living with and caring for your semi-permanent new body can be accessed in your virtual mercenary quarters. You may be subjected to irregular psychological evaluation and brain scans, which you are contractually obliged to participate in.
We strongly discourage you from taking off your helmet or armor at any time, and all mirrors and reflective surfaces have been removed from your facilities. If you feel hungry, need to use the restroom, or are uncomfortable sleeping in your armor, simply terminate your clone and activate a new one.
