So, as squad leader I called in an orbital strike on top of a Sagaris. The tank ran it's shield booster and after just a couple seconds had completely shrugged off the hit. Is the orbital strike supposed to be that weak? Is it just because it's called in from the MCC rather than an eve ship in orbit? |

Its not from the Mcc, its from the war barge. But it is also very weak due to the fact that its only the framework of the orbital strike. Wait until its been fully introduced to the game.....then you'll see how cool it is |

Well that makes sense, I don't know why I thought it was the MCC. Can't wait to smash tanks from orbit with my EVE character. |

I still can't figure out exactly how it works. I managed to use it once, but when I got the "battle commendation" orbital strike message later, all I managed to do was set a squad attack target. |

I got hit by an orbital strike in a militia logi suit, I sustained no damage whatsoever. I think there's little to no splash damage. |

You call in an orbital strike the same way you call in a vehicle; you press right on the D-pad and select orbital strike. It will then bring up the map with a crosshairs that you use to place your strike. |

Thanks! I must have called the first one in from the squad leader screen because my squad earned it, but was unable to do the same with my second because I had earned it as an individual.
Starting to make sense now. |

I thought the visual effects were rather... underwhelming, but it's pretty potent against infantry. It also works when you want to scare the hell out of the team and stop them from advancing for a few seconds. |

In the magazine article posted a couple of days ago the CCP bod made a distinction between orbital strikes and bombardment:
I venture 'strike' is small and executed by the destroyers that will be appearing in Eve for planet shooting
'bombardment' by larger ships upto capital class to waste an area. |
