Eve is a lot about the personal game. Politics, backstabbing, theft, spying, and negotiations are part of the world. You don't have to participate if you don't want to, but this is what Eve players have turned the universe into. CCP, while they don't plan for this, enjoy the sandbox concept of letting the players do what they want.

Well, that's all fine, but there is more to this universe than that, if you are willing. Shooting is just one way to play in New Eden, and if you think that it won't happen in Dust, I just hope you don't ragequit if you are not prepared for it when it happens, and it will happen.
