To start with I am not posting this because I think tanks are OP. I know they are and it should be that way its a tank. Now as to my topic, I was thinking you know how you call in your tank and sometimes nobody wants to gun at first. You pull up on the some enemy and you have a railgun. It's limited to the ammount of fire it puts out. So you decide hey I have no gunners and my missile turrets are great for infantry. Let me swap gunner seat and make short work of these guys. While being engaged by two assaults and two heavys you miss the friendly walking up to the tank and deciding to get in. Well he jumps in and is like wow I am driving this thing. Before you know it he is just sitting there taking massive ammounts of damage. Never turned on an armor/shield rep. Thinks oh no im going to get killed in this(due to inexperience) and bails on the tank. Now the owner of that tank is out 300k when it goes pop.
I would like to see a feature that allows only the owner of the tank be the driver. Maybe by giving a key to the tank or some sort of system put in play that tells the tank who it belongs to. It really annoys me when someone steals the tank as you lose it because they have no clue how to properly use the tank. Just the first idea.
I was thinking you know you get a gunner and he/she is constantly shooting at the mcc. I'm driving away from it thinking what in the world is he doing. Then oh no an enemy tank approaches. Meanwhile said gunner is still thinking he is going to blow up the mcc. SMH at him. Now here I am just me trying to take down a tank that has two turrets focused on me along with the main turret. This said gunner has took away massive dps because he is trying to blow up an mcc that he is tickling.
Last thing I would like to propose and this to me is what annoys me the most. I call in a tank and I see that saying I hate so much. DENIED! Please inform me why I have to lose my tank because we have a full quota. I understand the reasoning for it denying me. I don't understand why I still lose that tank. I just lost around 300k and didnt even get to use it or actually have it destroyed. I would really like something done about that mostly.
I would like to apologize for repeating anything that has already been posted. I did a brief search and didnt find anything along these lines. Thanks for taking the time to read. Comment if you like to share your thoughts on this topic |

As a tank owner you should have a option to kick someone for 10 seconds off the tank or to an open seat as long as yourself are in the tank. So you get back your driverseat or you can kick gunners so they can then capture points. |

I think tank owners should be able to assign players to any spot they want on the tank, another think about this is when the tank is full allow the owner to assign a 4 th postition to the main gun and let him focus on driving. |

Bad Idea, On the flip side, I dont want a bad tank driver to kick me out to capture a point when I'm shooting at someone, because they didnt see the fact I was.
======
I would however, like to see this implimented..
1) An option to allow other players to get into the drivers seat of your tank or not, this would be in the Options menu.
2) If you do allow it, also have implemented full time, the ability to kick others out of the drivers seat at anytime by getting into the seat yourself, which will then kick them into a gunner seat thats open.
3) If your tank is full, and you attempt to get in it, a little option comes up "Driver/Gunner Front/Gunner Back" Which then kicks the player out of that seat and you go in it, with a notification of "Owner of the vehicle has taken your spot".
(Reason for 3, Sometimes I've dropped in a tank myself, and someone else got in it, only to find they are really good at driving a tank, so I let them keep the drivers seat while I gun) Sometimes some people are just better than you, so let them have it right?

^ this needs to be fixed, simply doesnt make sense. If the drop has been denied then the tank goes back to wherever it came from, it doesnt get destroyed. |

i think that a lot of the problems written about here will be avoided when corps are fully implemented, playing with randoms will cause you problems, playing with a the regular crew and using voicecoms will get you the right gunner/driver, every time, a "set of keys" tho, is not a bad idea because there will still be players with a casual play style that plays random battles in High sec and they will still have the problems mentioned here |

If they didn't let anyone pilot a vehicle unless they have the skills to drive it, it would save a lot of problems all around.
A fellow pilot who is in your tank and takes it is being a jerk and that's a whole different issue than being a noob taking a 300k joy ride. The jerk would at least put that 300k to good use killing enemies. (hopefully)
But the first rule of a pilot is never leave the pilot seat unless you want to take a 50-50 chance at losing it. It's like they spawn from the shadows and run for your still warm chair. |

One exception in part for what I see as a realism factor is skills for that class of vehicle not just a specific type... meaning if I can drive any t1 tank then I can drive all of them, if I can drive prototype lavs then I have access to all prototype lavs and then the same with the major drop ship classes etc. |

Totally agree with all..... Or at least require the skills to drive before you can sit there (at least that way, in your example, the guy who is driving should know how to drive a tank and use the shields)
I think most should be solved with mic chat...... something in the heat of the moment like,
'please sir, would you mind ever so much getting out of the driver seat of my tank so i can drive it??"
My real wish for tanks is that you can kick people though...... Way too often i'm sure someone will sit in the tank,,,, then go to the toilet-- knowing fully well they'll get points from the actions of the others in the tank. Ive paid for you to have an epic missile launcher for a REASON!!!!! |

Vehicle skills are based on vehicle class and vehicle race
LAV Gallente LAV Caldari (with more to come)
Same with HAV and Dropships.
So you can be able to use LAV Gallente 1, but that doesn't mean you can use LAV Caldari 1, or any other Gallente vehicles.
Also, if you have LAV Gallente 1, you don't have the skill for the better Gal LAV's, just the basic non-militia one.
This would fix a lot, and motivate high end pilots to use their best stuff so they greatly reduce the risk of it running away. |
