I suppose it would, but think of it on the larger scale: I can go prone with my AR and shoot that HMG user dead, but he can't go prone to shoot his HMG (or Forge Gun). It gives an advantage to any suit but Heavy... and not enough people Heavy as is. |

This topic is a dead horse. It has been met with more opposition than support in every thread the issue has come up in.

I like prone. But I also like the ability to lean and rest weapons on surfaces and combat rolling. Unfortunately the PS3 doesn't give us enough buttons to facilitate them all. |

I thought the idea was worth looking into the first few times it was mentioned, but the points brought up against it in the previous threads were pretty well thought out, and quite correct. |

If it could be used to avoid being pancaked by dropships and tanks it would be useful. |

I really think prone would be good. And yes there are advantages and disadvantages to prone. You are immobile for a short period of time when you get up (however dropping to prone should be quicker). 1 second to drop to prone, and 5 seconds to get back up depending on your weight and mobility.
And Heavies can go prone but their heavy weapon goes on their back and their sidearm comes out. They're just bigger and heavier, so they'd be slower to drop, slower to get back up. Honestly Heavies aren't really the unit that should be going prone, however I think it would be used in certain instances.
Oh, and prone WOULD fix the dropship squishing (doubt it would help guard tank squishing). When a dropship comes out of the sky, it just forces you into prone position. Problem solved.
No insta-death, but if the dropship exploded anyone around would get splash damage of course, so it wouldn't eliminate kamikazes.
I think prone would be a great addition to the game. |
