big difference comparing CCP to EA and activision.
either way, CCP makes so much money with EVE they dont need to make a single penny with Dust and they can still rake in the monies. |

However I will say this, CCP has done well with eve online offically outlasting everyone in the growth department.
Wow just lost the race offically with 1million subscriber losses in the zone it counts, the US.
and in numbers game, eve online is back to being number 2 on the subscribe to play games. TOR dipped way below eve numbers and is quickly shifting to Free to play model which knocks tor off the list enitrely. |

This $20 mil is only for advertising, which by advertising standards is good, but not crazy, and is over a longer period of time. Let's hope it promotes the game enough to get people to pay for Aurum. Can't wait to see what they have prepared for us August 21st. |

I'm pretty sure they'll make a lot of money with Aurum sales. If only to enable people to use skill boosters. Unless they come out with a 3 day variant on the market, the current cost is 100 AUR per day to boost. That'll cost almost as much as an EVE subscription :) |

CCP doesn't have to go through a Publisher in order to release things - and doesn't have that publisher's directors/producers demanding what they think is good for the game. They release what they want, and are technically the best "indie" - and I use that term loosely - developer in the world. |

1. Kudos to CCP for the $20 Million funding for advertising.
2. CCP cannot be compared to big names like Blizzard, Epic Games and Infinity Ward because CCP is a privately-owned small business with limited resources. That's like trying to compare a small house cat to a fully grown lion.
3. The fact that CCP is the direct producer and distributor of Eve Online (it's main source of income along with PLEX and AURUM)) while Sony is only facilitating the distribution of Dust 514 and has no control as to what content CCP must put in, I'm pretty sure CCP will do just fine to ensure that both Eve and Dust works as intended.
4. Add the above stated with the fact that Eve Online has a player-elected council of stellar management with Dust bound to be a part of it soon(tm), we have ourselves a cocktail of awesome.
And this is all from a company that has limited resources and has already learned how to be efficient with it. |

limited resources maybe.....
for a company like CCP tho (small sized company comparatively) they might as well have infinite money. As much as some people wouldnt have you believe, EVE is very profitable with a SOLID base of players. |

And anyone with a job who has life outside the home realizes that $15/mo for unlimited hours of gameplay is very economical. |
