Hey guys,
So, I posted a problem the other day that I've been encountering in DUST. I've noticed several people have been experiencing the problem, but it's definitely a minority. So, I've solved it for myself and wanted to offer a solution for others who were in my place.
My line of thinking was that with such a small percentage of users experiencing the bug, it probably is something connectivity related and not a bug within the game itself. This got me into my router settings, and ultimately led to my solution.
In router settings, you're going to want to set up a DMZ (Wikipedia) for your PlayStation 3. This basically gives your PlayStation unfettered access to the Internet. I'm not sure what is causing the bug, but I can only assume it's a particular ISP or router brand not working properly with the game.
So, setting up a DMZ should solve your problem, but not too many people know how to do that. Here is some basic info that should hopefully help you guys out!

What is My PlayStation 3's IP Address?
Determining your PlayStation 3's IP address is really easy. Scroll to the far left of the XMB, you're looking for the Settings tab. Scroll down through Settings until you see Network Settings. Press X. Select 'System Information' and your IP address will be listed. Write this down, as you'll probably need it later.
How to set up a DMZ
This is where it gets tricky, because most routers have different menus and navigation systems. Usually if you type, '192.168.0.1' without the apostrophe's, you will be good to go. If not, try 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.100.1 or 192.168.1.100 as well.
Once in your router settings, you'll want to navigate to Firewall Settings. This is going to be trial and error on your part, as every router manufacturer is going to be different. Once you reach Firewall Settings (sometimes nested inside 'Advanced Settings'), you'll want to look for a DMZ section.
Click 'Enable DMZ' and for the IP address, you're going to want to select the proper IP from the dropdown box or simply type in the IP address that wrote down earlier.

Hopefully this solves the problem for you guys! I'll try and offer more help in this thread, so let me know if you have any questions! |
