=== Community Features === - Player created channels: Players can create private persistent chat channels and invite people to them. - Leaderboards: increased number of entries shown
Why can't all FPS games do this? This should be a standard feature, then there would be no need for Teamspeak and my laptop beside me, like in BF3... |

Edit. The textbox flipped and forced my text to the left. Weird. Anyways, "Plus many people in eve prefer TS, Vent, or other VoIP services due to superior quality and custimization. |

The chat channels are cross platform between EVE and Dust (and Vita Neocom?). In EVE, chat channels support voice, so it's possible voice will be available in the August 21 release.
The catch would be switching between the chat channels in-game since in EVE you can only have one voice channel 'active' at a time. |

In the discussion with CCP devs at IRC.
Text is the default mode of the channel.
Voice option costs an aur item every so often (which hopefully will be 'cheap')

Doesn't matter as EvE-voice is tied to channels anyway meaning you can talk (or write) only in channel that is currently active.

eve voice is paid for with a deal with the service provider that they get paid a wee bit for every paying head eve onlin has so a small fraction of your subscription is going twoards paying for it. |

I am pertty sure the eve voice is much cheaper than either of those two options and 256 player support at least and ingame controll tie-ins such as grabbing corpmate into a channel forcing him to listen to you about his screwups then in the same interface kick him from the corp. You can also API lockout non-wanted.
Worst thing in the world is to let goonswarm hack your teamspeak server and flood it with 3000+ players going rabble rabble rabble (it did happen before in eve) with eve voice you cant have that many univited guests show up all of a sudden and if its a corp based channel with voice they have to be in corp first. |
