Now as we all know, Logi suits are going to be getting a 20% buff to hacking speed. This got me thinking. I would love to see more eve style bonuses and role bonuses on the dropsuits.
Currently, each one is really just a more powerful version of the one before it. Why not in addition to having all round level bonuses on the suits, also have role bonuses to show some variety with the different suits.
for example
all gallente scout dropsuits get a +5% bonus to speed per level.
then the various suits can have specific roles, one could have a bonus to drop uplink CPU/PG, this could be a more recon dropsuit, perhaps the type I, cheap and disposable.
Amarr dropsuits could have a 5% bonus to armour HP per level.
Assault Dropsuits could get a +5% bonus to light weapon damage per level.
Logi suits could get a 3% bonus to repair tool repairing per level
what are you guy's thoughts on this? |

I prefer the way they're doing it with the Type II suits in this current build. Make a different variation that has different stats and slots, but no other bonuses outside of what you skilled for. This keeps the suits interesting, a little more specialized and doesn't add anything that might take it over the top. I would say that it's better to suggest suit variants instead.
Also, I read "5% Speed bonus for Scout Suits per level" and I nearly puked over my keyboard.

I agree with this approach. Long term varity and diversity of drop suits will be both important for combat and just damn fun.
Though I think that drop suits should get role bonuses where some, not all can be based on certain skills. I do think that suit role bonuses to stay with suit related skills and such. Damage should stay with guns and gun related skills.
Role bonuses shouldn't make a drop suit a single use item either. What I mean by this is making it over powered so every just fits it X way. I would also think most bonuses should be more general like you suggested armor, sheild, etc where it allows flexability.

I agree. Would give you a reason to train up dropsuits other than "I need lvl4 or 5 to get the T2 dropsuits". |

I had similar ideas, I will post the thread link here. Essentially, it is a more visually focused version of your ideas for differentiated dropsuits. https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=24509&find=unread |

I think it'd be better to just have modules that can tweek the suits rather than hardline bonuses. That way you don't lose the depth. |

Aren't we getting different drop suits for the four racial factions anyway? I wouldn't be surprised to see speed buff based Matari suits and similar theme suits for the others when the suit range is filled out. |

You guys are missing the point.
The bonuses the OP is talking about are not a bonus for every suit of a class being the same.
Its not "All Caldari Assualt drop suits have a bonus to shield and all Galente scout suits have a bonus to speed"
Its more like: Caldari Assault dropsuit 1 has a bonus to shields, while Minmatar Assault Dropsuit 1 gets a bonus to shield regen. Caldari Assault dropsuit 2 has a bonus to EWAR (when it eventually gets put in), Amarr gets a bonus to web grenades... Caldari Assault dropsuit 3 has a bonus to SMG damage, Gallente Assault 1 gets a boost to breach assault rifles.... Caldari Heavy Dropsuit 1 has a bonus to forgegun damage while Amarr heavy gets a boost to laser rifle damage Caldari Heavy Dropsuit 2 has a bonus to shield boost amount, while Gallente heavy gets a boost to armor repair cycle time. Caldari Scout Dropsuit 1 .....
You get the idea...
So every single race has every type of suit.
Every suit gets bonuses to a specific thing that makes it different from every other suit.
Every race has a different set of skills to train, so you train Caldari Assault suit skill or Minmatar assault suit skill etc and each suit boost is some % per level of the appropriate skill.
If you still don't understand what he is talking about, go look here and see how every single ship has very different bonuses.
This would take the current depth of the game and increase it 100 fold.
And by the way, the same goes for all of the vehicles as well. One of each for every race, with different stats and different roles and different bonuses. |
