So for the next 2 weekends im rolling out tanks
Im rich so i can easily afford it
Now first thing is first tanks are really easy to skill into
Second thing they handle like ****, basically unresponsive half the time
Thirdly large missiles good for killing ppl, **** against tanks and blasters are lol worthy, railguns seem the way to go for pure accurate damage, small missiles are a must
So im in armor tanks atm and shield will be done in a few matches and im making as many versions as i can think of which all carry a MCRU so i always have gunners but also it makes another spawn point
So my 4 types atm are Tank/Gank/Speed/Speed Gank
Tank - Basically as much armor EHP as you can put on it, also tho reppers are needed if you dont have logi support or any supply depots around. So i have 1 massive armor plate, and 2 small reppers with a PG/CPU mod, mids have the MCRU/Damage control and a shield recharger for the hell of it with 2 small turrets and will be a blaster i hope currently using large missiles. Its not bad really slow but can tank a bit
Gank - As many damage mods as you can take tbh, so weak tank but high in damage but its risky and prone to getting blown up quickly
Speed - So nanofibres but down side your armor takes a big hit so reppers are needed and awareness but your tanks agility is still **** tbh and trying to GTFO can still be too slow
Speed Gank - Nanos and damage mods, basically in and out whack em and gtfo out
Things i have noticed, swarm launchers are annoying more than forge guns because forge guns can miss
Always seems that i need to put on at least 1 PG and 1 CPU mod on in the lows even tho i have maxed out elec and engy skills, kinda of annoying because it takes up 2 low slots
Railguns it seems are better for against tanks due to direct high accurate damage
Shield tanks atm seem kinda limited, i dont think i could make a speed gank version because of 3 lows and if i need the extra PG/CPU mods then 2 are used already
So far with my experiments i havnt found an i win tank setup just yet
Also other tank drivers out ther what do you prefer, shield or armor tank?

*Note to self avoid you in game* I'm not sure about set ups never really tried them. I was in one the other day and his shield would take forever to recharge, most of the time he would be driving round with little/no shield left. |

Only reason i tried em is because why not
Im loaded can easily earn enough SP in my proto fit then hit up the tanks when my SP hits rock bottom |

I'd do the same but I want to try out the SMG's. You won't have much trouble getting kills. Usually people tend not to avoid the tank for some reason |

Reason for the shield never recharging is the Surya doesn't need it, it's 900 sp where the armor is up to about 8000 with repairers to add on top.
I especially like the idea of the MCRU ... only because I gave it to you last night Lmao !
I do tend to need a cpu or pg upgrade on my Surya, sometimes even 2 but the benefits you get from fitting 2 top reps or extenders or 1 of each massively outweighs the loss of 1 or 2 lows.
I'm liking my quad resist setup with the top rep an MCRU and the damage control, only recently set it up, but it's worked well few times I've tried. |

I still need to tinker with it tbh
I can fit 1 top repper and 1 top plate but then struggle tbh with PG/CPU espc for the weapons and MCRU takes 20/160 but at least it gives me gunners
Resists i do have and they are not bad but the stacking penalitys main mean tht the 4th is useless like in EVE, stick with 3 maybe |

Yeah hopefully the MCRU won't be so necessary after grouping, should be able to get gunners from your squad when they know it's not a paper tank, trouble is you can't tell the difference yet, so the spawn point is an indicator that it's a good tank and you want gunners in it to be more effective.
I can't find it now but I read something on the forums that made me try the quad resists, worse still I forget what I read :-( I'm thinking it must have been along the lines of the stacking penalties not working properly at the moment, but I'm really not sure, either way it does seem to work a little better than the biggest extender does and still uses the same rep.
The biggest problem I have with tanks is activating modules, in the heat of battle you hit R2 n flick the stick up and wait for the activation delay, then nothing happens cos it hasn't registered the command properly, before you know it you're too busy trying to activate it n not concentrating on your retreat n you're up a lamp post giving the biggest possible stationary target for that Ishukone you're running from to get his last shot out, seconds before the rep would have finally activated. N pop goes another quarter mil isk :-(
All good fun though :-) as the saying goes ... don't use what you can't afford to lose !

Your first tank fit needs improvement. Take out the 2 reppers, and get a Heavy Armor Repper instead. Use 2 powergrid expansions, the prototype ones, and then a 180 armor plat and a 120 one, or whatever fits. For the other side, use a DCU unit. I can take out Sagaris' and other Surya's easily like this. The lower tier tanks are a joke. |

Also, in armor tanks, ignore the shield slots. Basically useless. |

With the 3 minds for the armor tanks kinda ****** with what you can put in
A DCU/MCRU but what is left is all shield stuff in general, i can save 20CPU with the lowest one so its empty basically, need some extra mods because its a wasted slot |

The damage mods don't work this build. Save the slot for something else. |

Why in hell would you put a nanofiber on a armor tank? The whole point of armor is to soak damage up, not to move fast. |

My favorite tank is a Nano Sagaris. Buzzing around the field at 35m/s blasting all infantry. I just wish there was a mod for better turning or acceleration. When I fit a large missile launcher, many lols are had. |

Because i just can
I do it in EVE on smaller ships like dessies and frigs for added agility except in DUST it really does **** all since your tunring cirle is that of a 747
I will try it on shield since it has 3 lows but i think it will need at least a PG slot knowing me
Also i dont think the armor -3CPU/PG skills are working or rarther i dont know if they are
In EVE your skills alter the fitting requirement for mods and it updates the mod/weapons with the new fitting requirements, it should do that in DUST for tanks
