So, my brother and I were a bit bored the other night, and decided we would play Black Ops. That game sucks, in more ways than I thought. The movement feels slow, like you're stuck in the mud. Aiming is awkward - responsive, but awkward. I think horizontal sensitivity is higher than vertical sensitivity, which just doesn't feel right. I had constant issues with my framerate, it would drop down to 20 or 15, making a firefight simply impossible.
Now, in Dust, I think there are ways to make the movement feel more natural, but damn, I think you might move faster with a heavy than you do in CoD! Aiming feels much more natural in Dust - minus the completely random AimBot attacks, and hit detection. And I have had minor issues with framerate, but nothing even close to as severe as what I experienced on CoD.
I think that to make the movement a little more natural, you should be able so strafe -slightly- while running, like you can in various games such as Blacklight: Retribution or MAG. I say this because while mercs may be wearing large amounts of armor, they still have the ability to turn their hips while running (not sure if I have the right body part there). Only being able to run directly where you are looking makes running feel very restricted, and in many cases I have found myself in a tough spot because of it.
In conclusion, CCP - you're doing it right, keep it up. Gameplay feels pretty natural, just needs a few tune ups. |

Well go figure a gamer that actually tries games instead of comparing them to cod. But hmm i think id actualy have to go back and play black ops to get a feel for this been so long since i played cod |

I'm only 4 days late with a reply but.. yeah go try it, the game just feels outright awkward and sluggish. It's not just the over-and-over arena style gameplay that gets old, but the mechanics just feel crappy.
And why the "troll sense is tingling" comments? |

CoD dipping down to 20-15 fps is usually a common issue if you live in bizarro world. Everybody else is playing it at a constant 60 fps unless you're playing on Wii or something.
and awkward aiming? haha what am I reading. Out of all the bad things you could have said about CoD, controls and framerate are probably the dumbest things you could have chosen. I don't think you're cut out to ride the CoD hate bandwagon. srry |

I have always noticed the Frame rate issues with CoD. Usually when watching my little sister play it because the game isnt worth playing unless its for killing Zombies.
Framerate is usually fine, but it always drops once in a while.
It is funny how people remember CoD being better than it really is. CoD has the worst hit detection. Hitting an extender finger blows a person away like you fired center mass.
DUST 514 does have a lot of the mechanics down right and feeling good. Once they fix some of the issues with the next build and add a grouping system things will be amazing. |
