So I got a question is planetary warfare going to be like some RTS for commanders where there are lots of tacical and strategic option to do and accomplsih things or will it be a series of matchs that winning one gives you a bonus in the next match?
I personally would rather have a complexe and deep RTS thing with alot of choices and rules and were wars arnt won with just attack, attack, attack.
However I could understand if ccp dumbs down war for the masses. |

More like real-time strategy as every battle is contracted by at least two opposing corporations or factions and because everything we do will have an impact on the next battle in terms of available resources. |

For those desk generals its an RTS. Even the MCC pilots its an RTS. |

When I first thought of dust planetary warfare I thought of a planet being divided up into zones and players controling the zones wher you.have to fight battles to unlock the next zone and each zone provides resource such as artillery support, and radar. But movement between zones takes time its not instant it takes time to move around on the planet and players cant justfly into space and come.back down somewhere else. |

The only thing we know for sure at this point is that:
- We will fight matches for control of districts
- Planets will have multiple districts
- Planets will have a Space Elevator with a Surface Control Center and an Orbital Control Center
- Controlling both ends of the Space Elevator - on the ground and in space (EVE's side) will grant special bonuses
..and really not much else. How we will secure individual districts, what bonuses they will bring, what you can do with the districts once you own them, etc, isn't known yet. |

It is difficult to answer this as well. If it is just 24v24 than I would say it should be more like a traditional attack adn defend FPS. If we get into a 128 v 128, than I think the commander as a RTS is a big possibility.
Personally, I would like to give the leadership roles more power/control. In MAG, you could assign targets and such but if I recall correctly, you were limited in your spawn selection. I would want the option for commanders to dictate were each squad or group can spawn and assign objectives within that spawn. That way there is a more RTS component because hte commander is literally placing troops in strategic areas across a map. |

What about the RTS between matchs not just during matchs troop movment between district leaves opening for ambush match or blockades of a path between two districts, focing people to take a long way around. Loosing a match were loosing a match doesnt mean loosing that forever you could come back the next match maybe, players who are on one side of the planet cant just jump to where ever the fighting is they have to travel and that takes time. Ect. Ect. Things like this not just the RTS during matchs like spawn locations and installation placement but more of the overall thing. I mean we will lwaging a world war for every planet.
How complexe should it be how simple should it be? |

I think the commanders should have a RTS style role on the battlefield. Look at something like Planetside or MAG. Massive battles with objectives and orders to follow. Not just run and gun fighting on the surface. I want to have the most war-like experience I can. If they can get the gameplay to be about fighting a continous, tactical war, then this will be facinating. |

RTS type gameplay will probably have a lot of meta game involved. I wonder how a commander's skill could effect the outcome of a battle. |
