Spawning in most games is boring. Plus theres the problem of fixed spawn points creating campers.
So lets try a fix thats creative??
Anyone ever use a real life mortar?? What if clone spawning were like that?
I.e. a vehicle back at the main area and a MOVABLE launch tube. On the map you select the launch arc and landing point.
What am I saying? Think of it as an Angry Birds game with dropsuit clones. You get to select the landing point after being launched and in some cases you can land on semi high structures.
FWOOOOMPPPP! wheee and you land as if dropping from a dropship but instead land after being mortar tube launched. |

I like the idea but would need to be limited how high you can be fired otherwise people will just launch on to tall buildings. |

that would be funny though. If you're good enough, might even be able to take a dropship out while you're at it. Artillery clones! |

It was a cinematic feature with stuff we won't be able to actually do. I believe the ship that dropped the mercs was an EVE frigate of some sort. |

The trailer is CCP's very long term goal. The trailer shows an Amarrian Destroyer dropping a ship (the amarrian drpship?) into atmosphere, which the mercs then deploy from. |

the space fight was 3 rifters vs 1 coercer (destroyer), the smaller ship could have been an impairor or something new

I also think the "appear out of thin air" thing is a bit bad and wondered why at some spawn points we were not being dropped in.
Like the idea sounds a bit like the launch tubes in battlefield 2142. this is the best example I can find of the launch tube/pods http://youtu.be/TkFeC_ddML8 |

Cant see why attacking team at least shouldn't get dropped from MCC with some added slight steering ability added to inertia dampers |

It might make CRUs obsolete, but it help get rid of spawn camping.
But on the other hand, spawn camping is a legitimate tactic that can countered with experienced scouts sneaking behind enemy lines planting drop uplinks. I tried it before and I was able to get around most spawn camps with absolute impunity. |

That new amarr thing from the trailer could be a new type of drop ship. Enters from redzone fully loaded, good for first clone deployment of squad. I Think we will eventually be able to fly the vehicle dropoff type also, once we get bigger maps, to airlift vehicles over ridges. |

PlanetSide handled it best for this type of conflict: physical, destructible spawning facilities. You had the mobile ones which were basically what the vehicle-based CRUs are supposed to be (I honestly say get rid of the module and make it a dedicated vehicle; it'd make more sense), and fixed locations had tubes that you spawned in. Make sure the reward for killing the tubes is sufficient to encourage their destruction rather than simply camping them, and the problem is now solved in an immersive, practical manner. |

@Geirskoegul
The problem with destructible environments is that players will level the entire place whether there is any incentive or penalties doing so. Griefers will grief regardless of what happens. |

They blew it up? Buy a new CRU truck. Take a repair tool to the fixed-location spawn tube. Worked fine in PlanetSide, it'll work fine here.
I'm not really sure what your point is. Provide some incentive to make blowing it up more appealing than camping and you'll lose the spawn, instead of the current situation of appearing out of thin air and people farming kills rather than going for the objective.
Making it physical objects allows you to knock out both issues, and if you're worried about griefing or teamkilling in the form of blowing up your own spawns, **** happens, life sucks, and EVE is not WoW. |
