Beta TesterGÇÖs are the DUST CSM (Ver.0.2 a harmless comparison)
'My post has to do with helping Player's leave CCP effective Feedback on the Beta" Not actually becoming a CSM member.
With the access of the DEVs that we hold and the amount of influence we have with DUST, not to mention the potential of organization we could possess, we could view ourselves as the first DUST CSM (Council of Stellar Management). CSM may not be the proper name for us though, maybe we are the CPM (Council of Planetary Management) itGÇÖs unsure. But what is for sure is that we can make a difference in the game we play and are abel to define the way others will play for years to come.
With the new build just days away (maybe a couple of weeks), we should prepare ourselves for the task at hand of testing it. The first few weeks are the most meaningful in testing (to be honest I feel as though this is the part that gets the most DEV attention). So letGÇÖs do our best to be as effective as possible for the DEVs and do what we can to GÇ£hurry upGÇ¥ the possess of making this game.
HereGÇÖs a list that might help you in this duty (this is crap I do, might not work for everyone):
1: Write down thoughts and feedback
2: Try to gain feedback from others on the game
3: Type out your post in Microsoft Word or any other writing program that has spell check.
4: Add linkGÇÖs whenever they can be applied (the more facts you can add the better)
The better we are at testing the more efficient CCP can be at fixing and adjusting game mechanics. LetGÇÖs do our best to be the first DUST CSM.

IGÇÖm not sure why a harmless comparison cannot be made to help Testers think a little higher about their feedback to CCP.
I made this Post on 6/24 before the E3 Build came out Can DUST Get a CSM and/or have the right to Vote?
Please leave your DUST CSM comments there.

I think it should cost 100 aurum to vote.
CCP would give 150 aurum out for free as part of the motivation to vote or not vote. |

I could back that. Hopefully when the time is right to have a real CSM we can look at the different possibilities for voting. I see a DUST type CSM also being a great way to up hype about DUST and help guarantee longevity due to the idea of video game politics.
WhatGÇÖs your thoughts on the testing process? |

For the record guys, CSM (Council of Stellar Management) isn't just something you join. Representatives are elected by popular vote of Eve Online (and/or Dust players upon release) and when selected are responsible of being able to actively talk about NDA material(s) with CCP Developers.
This means that a few times a year (including in emergency summits) you must
Be able to fly to CCP's Headquarters in Iceland to speak with CCP personally.
Just so you know what you're getting into if you -really- want to be part of CSM. |

I already test games for a living, so I'm cool off being on CSM. But this is a really important point to bring up and we all need to do our part and actually write up at least 1 bug. But any of you interested in becoming a part of this program really need to step up! You can do this if you want! Looks good on a resume and it's hella fun... So be on your best behavior! X]
Let's make this game kick ass! :D |

Bug?
CSM is not that simple, you're more of a representative of a play group, clanner, loner, vehicle specialist, FW player ect ect.
Right now its hard to be a supportive of any popuation group right now with so many lack of features.
I can see CSM for dust 514 starting with 1 chair and as the game expands to new depths more chairs to be added. |

Yeah... No.
Players giving feedback in a beta are in no way a CSM. CSM Members like IronWolf said are specific people who represent a broader group of certain game styles. While there are certainly a few prominent posters representing certain opinions, we are far from having anything that would even closely resemble a CSM.
As far as the Unicon thing goes... I admire the initiative but you are trying to take a leadership position in a group(s) of players, in a game world with a community you've yet to fully understand. The effort, while admirable, is doomed to fail. I hope I'm surprised and it does not, but your mission statements and advertising posts does not give me hope. If you'd like help in understanding what you're getting into, feel free to ask anyone on IRC. |

I agree with Nova. On everything. The crowd on this forum is nowhere near to be CSM-material.
And Aurum as motivation for people to vote ? seriously ? I spend 2 month in EVE and voted for CSM after reading various motivation speech from different candidate. I didnt need any financial "go-go". The opposite would be pathetic. And fairly immoral.

Thing is that most of the players in the Beta dont even come to the forums and half those that do just go around trolling either CCP, People that actualy like this game or people that are trying to do things in the MetaGame. So in some ways those that actualy post constructive posts do things that are simmiler to what the CSM does. |

Also CSM is legally bound when they sign up as they are a part of CCP's development team, stake holder I think it was called as described in CSM white paper.

This ^
I have participated in the CSM elections many times as a voter and have seen what the CSM can do. It is a very big responsibility to handle. Not only are you given access to material and information that is far too sensitive for anyone else to know outside of CCP, but you must have your passport ready as well as being available to fly over to Iceland. In some case, if able, CCP might accommodate with a Skype-like communication service but you have to fly over there are least once at one point.
Not only that, you are to fulfill the expectations set forth by those who voted for you in the first place and you will have an impact on how Eve/Dust is improved.
The CSM is not some PR move that CCP is doing. You have influence and actual duties. |
